There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Helmet Headset Question

I have a FF helmet with the BRP headset mic setup. When the radio plays, I sometimes only get sound from the right earpiece. When I wiggle the cord at the helmet connection, it will play in both earpieces. The piece that connects to the helmet connection seems to be the problem. The incoming cord has a male prong and the helmet has a female recepticle...they are not making a good connection...

My thought was to put a very small piece of foil in the female part and push the male in firmly. Can't think of anything else to do at this point for a firm connection...any ideas. Thanks

George,

Doesn't that headset still have a warranty? Seems like it's been less than a year since you bought it, hasn't it? If so, let them replace it instead of you having to contend with trying to fix a short.

:agree: Accessories purchased at the time you bought your Spyder, and installed by the dealer, are supposed to have the same warranty as the Spyder, although others have only a 90(?) day warranty. I think the covered accessories must be listed on your warranty registration form, however. If the problem is merely in the pins, I have had good results with other connectors in carefully bending the offending pin(s) ever so slightly to the side, so they still mate with the other connector, but make better contact. Your problem, unfortunately, is more likely in the cable itself. The conductors often fail right at the connector. They make contact if you wiggle the cable (for a while) but eventually fail altogether. I just had one of my Starcom1 headsets fail this way.

George, my headset did the same thing and I took it to the dealer. They verified the short and replaced the complete headset under warranty. No problems whatsoever.

I was at the dealer today and mentioned it. No offer to change it out under waranty and I did not ask...(oversight on my part). I will fool with it a little and see how it goes. Thanks for the ideas...

Emailed my dealer about the warranty on my BRP headset...60 days was the answer and I bought BR1 in March....I will work on it and bend it a little or whatever...I have pushed it in as far as it will go...no click... I will get my favorite Spyder tool and work on it....my 10 pund sledge... :roflblack:
