• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Helmet to Helmet communications between rider/passenger?

Yeah...... gotta look at the options! For those that use such devices, what do you recommend? Nothing fancy; just communications between the wife and I.

Thanks!

Director, Thanks for the info. Autocom looks like a very good system. I think you have a convert here.

Thanks again

We are on our second set of ChatterBox units and have used them for bike to bike for over ten years. Upgraded from older 90 series with 1/2 mile range to FRS series with 2 mile. We use full face helmets because open face create lots of wind noise.

And that is exactly the problem wih Chatterbox (which I tried before purchasing my Autocom) and many other communication systems. Wind noise is absolutely a non-issue with the uni-directional mics on the Autocom. Open face, full face; it simply doesn't matter. As long as the mic is properly positioned directly in front of your mouth, close enough so that if you purse your lips, you can touch it, the sound will be completely undistorted and unaffected by the wind. Crystal clear. I have two or three cheap communication systems now gathering dust in my garage. I should have spent the extra dollars on the Autocom in the first place.
I am not affiliated with Autocom in any way, just a very satisfied customer.

+1 for Autocom. I am on my second Autocom system. Works great.

Sabunim5, I have a question for you. I currently have my Autocom Easi-7-Advance under the seat in the tray above the battery on my Kawasaki Concours. I do not have a Spyder yet, so I have been wondering about possible locations for the Autocom, and there does not appear to be any room under the seat. Where do you have yours stored or mounted on your Spyder?
Thanks,

Bruce

Our Starcom1 units work great, rider-to-pillion. Excellent noise reduction, which adjusts with your speed and background noise. We have used it this way for several years now. Bike-to-bike we are having difficuties brought on by the way the VOX in our radios interfaces. We may try PTT switches soon. Other than the difficulty triggering communications, however, because my wife talks so softly, the sound is crystal clear. I think the difference is that rider-to-pillion she is more protected, so there is less wind noise in her helmet to overcome. Her mike sits a bit farther than optimal from her lips. With the full duplex rider-to-rider feature, her mike is always "hot", but the VOX triggered radios need a little more stimulation. I'm apparently louder, and my mike is closer, so I have no trouble triggering the radios.

A good system, but I have long maintained the very best is Autocom. My wife and I can converse easily over the intercom no matter what speed we are traveling. The other benefit is that you can power it off the bike's battery and not have to worry about recharging it as you would with bluetooth systems like the Cardo Scala.

That is actually why we went with the Scala, I wasn't interested in a system where I had to be plugged into the bike or not be able to go from riding one bike to riding another without having a system on each bike. The Q2 lets me have that freedom and also gives me the bike to bike capability without using a radio. The recharging had been a non-issue so far, I generally get about 6 hours of on time out of it before I recharge and I've never run it completely did.
