• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have a sena 20s, a friend has a scala rider freecom 4, we have tried everything we know to do and cannot get them to sync.
Is there an easy way to make these two work together?

From the Sena help desk

You've probably tried this already, but thought it would be useful to have it here for future reference by another SL:

The 20S supports the Universal Intercom feature found in other Sena headsets. To pair the 20S to a non-Sena headset you will need to do the following steps:

1. On the 20S, enter the Configuration Menu by holding down the Jog Dial for 12 seconds until you hear the voice prompt say "Configuration". You can also activate the voice command system and give the voice command "Configuration".
2. Rotate the Jog Dial clockwise or counter-clockwise until you hear the voice prompt "Universal Intercom".
3. Tap the Phone Button to place the 20S into Intercom Pairing mode.
4. On the non-Sena headset, perform the necessary actions to place the headset into Mobile Phone Pairing mode.
5. Wait for the devices to pair together.

Thanks, but yes, followed that procedure several times with no connection ever happening. That is why I was getting so frustrated.

I just spoke to Sena tech support and they said that the only way to do it with Cardio is pairing it as a second phone, not as a second headset. I will be trying that tomorrow and update here if it works.

If there is anyone here who has connected to a cardio with the sena 20s, please post how you accomplished it.

Thanks

Bluetooth

Different manufactures don't always work with each other. They must have some special frequency or something, but that's what I have found.

It does not work. Sena will only talk to other sena headsets over any reasonable distance. Pairing it as a phone will only let them communicate about 25 ft.

Nope, you need all the same type headsets for them to work together.

I second that they are not going to pair with Cardio. We had to buy another Sena unit to pair with my new Sena. Wife was still using Cardia an I had gotten a Sena unit. Couldn't pair them. Was on phone along time with Sena tec but in the end they said the two different units wouldn't sync. Wife got a new Bilt helmet with a Sena unit all ready installed inside it for $230. Wish I had done the same. Between my new helmet an the Senate unit that went inside it I could have bought 3 helmets like hers.

Yes they work together!

Here is an update on the connection of the Sena 20s and the Freecom4. Yes they work together!

I connected the main Freecom 4 to my Sena 20s by putting the 20s in second phone mode. The freecome 4 was in the cardio gateway mode.

Once this was done, I then connected to my passenger headset, headset through my intercom link, and he connected to his passenger with his intercom link.
All for of us could then hear and converse with each other in a wide open format, if I wanted to speak just to my passenger, I had to push the "jog" dial on the sena 20s, then when I wanted to join in with the other two, push the "jog" dial again.

The range on them was roughly half a mile over hills and around curves.

The problem I had was that the music from the GPS would not work, and when I tried to use the GPS, it cut out the connection with the freecome 4. If I killed the directions from the GPS, the sena and freecom 4 would reconnect and work fine.

Still trying to work out a way of making it all work together. I will keep you posted on my findings.
