• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Honda Goldwing reverse trike

There are several kits available. One by MotorTrike called the Prowler. Another by a Dutch company called the Sturgis. I don't think the Sturgis is being shipped to the US any longer. There were overheating problems due to it's fairing covering a large part of the radiator air intakes. A good Google search will give you the information you are looking for..... Jim

A conventional trike conversion for a Goldwing is certainly not inexpensive. I would assume that a reverse trike conversion would be even more costly. I was a Goldwing rider and considered the Tilting Wheel conversion, but never really seriously pursued it. The reports I read said that it did not work quite as well as advertised, especially if on a road with any degree of camber, and this conversion would have been about $18,000 to accomplish. I ride with several riders with conventional Goldwing trikes, but I had little enthusiasm for that setup, which would have also cost at least $15,000 to accomplish. So I chose to trade in the Goldwing and use it as a down payment on a new Spyder RT, which ended up being $10,000 out of pocket by the time tax, registration, etc. were added in. So I saved a good chunk of change, and got a brand new ride, something I was ready for after 5 years of the Goldwing. Had Honda offered a factory version of a reverse trike I likely would have gone that route rather than a Spyder, just out of my familiarity and trust in the Goldwing/Honda brand.

Why are Spyders or (2 wheels in front) called / considered reverse trikes. A (trike) short for tricycle is a three wheeled vehicle be it peddle power, motorized and even aircraft with three wheeled landing gear are referred to as having a tricycle gear. Just because the two wheels are in the front and one in the back it is still just a trike isn't it?

Prior to the Spyder (with a few obscure selections), all three wheeler m/c's were called "trikes." The configuration was one wheel in the front and two in the back. When Spyder was introduced in 2007/08, they advertised the "Y" factor, which was also called a "reverse" trike. Backwards from the "usual" trike configuration. BRP had to come up with a computer driven system to make the system work. Those "obscure" versions were without an "assist" computer.

Interesting reading here as to "why reverse trike"

Your right - pretty interesting read, but still the only thing I can figure out in the (revers trike terminology) is it's just most people are use to a trike as 1 wheel in front, even though three wheel vehicles have been around since the late 1800s early 1900s though until recently they were car type vehicles like the Morgan, reliant and the Dale premiered in mid 1970s.

No worries, just seems weird to call it a revers trike, I'll just stick to my Spyder or my bike.
