• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How to get and install updates for Zumo 660 GPS on RT Limited?

I'm looking for how to get the updates and then install them on my wife's 2011 RT Limited. We purchased the Spyder used and only have the Zumo and the mount no cables or support manuals. I don't see a way to connect to a computer for downloading updates and tried to link via bluetooth but don't see how to do updates via the bluetooth link.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

If you have the same unit as on my 2013 RT Ltd, you need to remove the battery cover on the unit to access the outlet.

Yup! Get a copy of "Garmin Express" on your computer first...
When you notice that updates are available; just plug in your GPS to the computer, and wait for the smoke to clear... :D

once you remove the battery cover on the back of the Zumo 660 you will see a USB port and a slot for SD Memory card. You will need a USB cable. You can take your Zumo 660 to any store that sells cables and find one that fits. It is one of the standard size cables so you may already have one that will work. PM me if you have any questions.

The folks above got you covered. Get Garmin Express. Plug into your computer using mini usb cable.

Since it is a 2011 it will not have come with lifetime maps, but the previous owner may have bought it. If you decide to buy the Garmin lifetime maps it is usually cheaper to get it from Amazon or gpscity.com

The Spyder Dealer File will be way out of date. See link to update that. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?64874-New-dealer-list-for-Garmin-GPS

I've looked at the GPS unit it is sealed so I don't know where a battery cover would be, is it the small rubber flap I'm the end?

It's not sealed...
YOu should see a slide release on the bottom of it...
Slide it!

That'll relase the battery box cover (Left side of the unit), and the Mini USB connector port is up near the top...

One last thing.

There is a very valuable option for your Garmin called the Safety Camera Database. This puts the location of all speed safety cameras and red light safety cameras in your Garmin and if you have the headsets , it puts that information in your ears. This comes in the form of a yearly subscription that may be updated as desired. I can't hear my Passport telling me about the speed cameras in my area but I do hear the reminder in my ears from my Garmin. Consider it.

Above is a link to the entire manual.
Below is page 7 which shows the layout of the device
I hope this helps.

Yes there is a way to set the display to show the direction you are heading as the top of the screen or to show north as the top of the screen.
