• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. There you have it....

:agree: many have done this and many more than once...:banghead: some have put a secondary pull cord hidden for such occasions...

I did put a small cord and it works great. Tuck it under weather strip can't see it at all

FWIW - when I owned a Piaggio their forum described the method for opening the seat without the key. Then folks started having their scooters broken into by thieves who read the method.

Their solution was to stop posting and send a PM only to registered members with a specific minimum number of posts. The thefts were reduced, particularly after the moderators removed old posts describing the method.

Something to consider here? We may think it's obvious how to access the trunk, but how often the question gets asked tells me it's not so obvious. So why advertise it?

How about a picture????

I looked and didn't see a good place to attach a cord. It seems it would get tangled in the lock mech as you have to pull it to the drivers right to open the frunk. A pix would really help.

Also I don't see how a small stick or a long screw driver is going to work with out scratching the h&ll out of the frunk.

Any thoughs and pix are much appreciated

Extra key

I keep a second key hidden in the trunk and have a key in my wallet that I can always use to unlock the trunk and get the second key.

A blank to release the lockables is an Ilco X270. I had to bevel the key as shown so it could be pushed down far enough in the ignition switch to release the frunk and seat latches. I keep it in my wallet.

I put a wire to the riders left and it comes out under the oil check panel on the 2012 RT. You have to lift the left corner up to insert the rod or stick. Shouldn't scratch anything.

Here are some pics, you have to run the rod right down the channel. If you take off the black inspection panel you can run a wire across to the left.

Man I am surprised we are giving out how to break into our bike information to the free world..:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Thank you

Thanks guys,
With the inspection removed it was all very easy. Used a strong nylon string with a large ( 1.5" dia) rubber washer tied to the loose end and tucked away but I can still get to it.
