• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Is it possible to use the NAVI (GPS) on my android cell phone as my GPS on my RT..

Is it possible to use the navigation app on my android phone as my "GPS" on my RT? If this is possible can anyone tell me how to do it? Android's are notorious for gobbling battery life. Is it possible to use the plug in charger in the trunk as a charging mechanism for the phone and then use my Scala Rider helmet set to hear the directions from my phone?

Is it possible to somehow have the NAVI come through the speakers?

HELP!!! I can't keep spending fortunes on my RT if I have something that might already work.

Thanking you in advance!

Yes, its possible, we did it back in 2010, but you'll still need a couple cheap mods

Got a universal phone/gadget holder from Verizon Wireless that we mounted to the top flat spot on the glovebox of the RT for a little over $20. We ran an extended cable from the rear trunk outlet, under the seat to the phone for power. That part, worked but was a PITA, so I would recommend installing a powerlet either somewhere on your dash area, or unplugging both your analogue gauges (they both show up on the LCD screen & seem to be more accurate, at least to me) & then you could replace one of the gauges with a convenient powerlet to easily power your phone/gps. One caveat of this set-up is ryding in the rain, but we overcame that by using a cheap ziplock baggy & a rubber band. Allthough, on our trip home in the rain from last years SpyderFest, I made the mistake of actually zipping the baggy instead of just folding it over with the rubber bands. Not thinking about heat build causing condensation, & we fried our Moto-Droid from moisture damage. Luckily I had the optional replacement insurance, so that lesson only cost me $50 & I'm passing it on to you free.

Since we use our Spyder as our daily & only vehicle, and put on close to 30,000 miles a year, we finally opted for a waterproof Garmin Zumo 665 & now wouldn't be without it. I'll post a couple pics of how we used to do it & if you need more details, feel free to PM me. We still use our gizmo mount for our Droid as long as its not raining & just put it in the glove box if it does start raining. Good luck & let us know how things progress for you.

I almost forgot about your bluetooth questions

As long as you can sync up your phone to your scala headset, you shouldn't have a problem. We have no need for that, as Teddy wouldn't pay attention to me while we're ryde'n, cause he's too busy ham'n it up for his adoring fans :roflblack: As for having the sound from this setup going thru your Spyders speakers, thats not gonna be possible without further mods which are beyond my experience, but I know Phil has rigged up an Awesome bluetooth set-up on Darth, his Awesomely moded out RT-S :2thumbs: so you may wanna contact him if thats important to you  again, hope this helps & keep us posted on yur progress ;)

The newer android phones should have google navigation already installed. Since I already use my phone for music bluetooth into my helmet I found out the commands from Google Nav will override the music the same as an incoming phone call. The screen on the phone is a little to small to see mounted on the dash so I just rely on the voice commands.

Thanks so much to both of you for your input and suggestions. My android phone is Bluetooth synced to the Scala on my helmet. Won't hurt to try that first! The one problem with that set up is that I can barely hear when someone calls me. I have a Bell Vortex full face helmet (not the quietest helmet) and the Scala is mounted on the left side of my helmet...problem is I have slight hearing loss on the left. The dealerships say it should be mounted on the left side of the helmet and I'm guessing it might have something to do with the right hand being on the throttle not playing with the Scala?? Would rather shift it to the right side if that was possible. The odds of me being able to see the screen on a Garmin like device while driving seems remote.......so the voice would be better IF I can hear the darn thing LOL.

The gas guage (dial) on the left needs to be replaced for the 3rd time, the engine temp gauge (dial) on right no longer works, and now the RPMs big dial in the center cluster area works when it wants to. I'm more than a tad upset that my dealership can't fix this. I am totally reliant on the digital settings in the center. So if the phone/Scala combo test works I might just be having a powerlet put where one of the non-functioning gauges are currently.

These are great bikes but the dealership techs could use more schooling.........

Time to experiment!! thank you CyncySpyder, Teddy and Mo Lee!
