• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

my low fuel warning light comes on at around 225 km ( 160 mls ).last year it came on at 165 km ( 100 mls ).there where no leaks in the fuel system and when i did fill up the tank, the amount of fuel put in compared well with the distant traveled.i belief the fault was in the fuel gauge.however it was fixed the next morning ,as with most of the electronic faults i did have in the past.last week it happend again.this time it will not fix it self i switch the relays but that did not work.before i contact my dealer has any one had this problem and if so ,has it been fixed and how?

Havnt had any issues with the electrical system as yet. I get about the same depending on how you ride them. crap fuel consumption but who cares aye. good fun.:doorag:
 
It depends if you fill the tank exactly with the same amount of fuel every time [very hard to do ] Just go by miles traveled. Use the light as a get ready to fuel up warning. Thats what i do .
 
I have found, with my ryding style, when I reach 3 bars on the fuel gauge I need to begin thinking about fueling up. I have had the low fuel light come on a couple of times, and was very close to walking. :yikes: I also think about 150 miles or so sounds right.

That is, unless you are having a different issue where the light is on and will not go out or something.

Henk, I had a similar problem with mine - I think the float in the tank was stuck or somehow causing a miscalibration. I think it 'unstuck' somewhere around 1,000 miles and has been fine ever since. Way back when, Scotty had a couple of explanations for why it would or could do that.

back from the dealer.low fuel switch foulty what is part of the fuel pump .to fix the problem ,i was told to buy a new fuel pump as fuel pump and switch are one item.cost aus$ 900.00 plus installation.i bought the spyder second hand and don't know the time of perchage by the first buyer. it will be very cloose to being out of waranty.

The warranty transfer, if it is still in warranty, can be handled by the dealer. It does have to be transferred into your name. Should be done at the time of purchase. The dealer can look up the VIN# on their computer and determine if the warranty is still in effect.
 
Yesterday I decided to find out what is left in the tank when the low fuel light goes on. Put a 1 gallon gas can in the saddlebag and went for a ride. At 140 miles low fuel light and 1 bar on the gauge. At 157 miles no bars on the gauge. At 183 miles out of gas. Put in the 1 gallon and drove less than 2 miles to the nearest gas station and could only put in another 4.9 gallons.

183 miles/5.9 gallons = 31 mpg.

Low fuel light = 43 miles / 31mpg = 1.4 gallons

So much for a 6.5 gallon tank.

Good to know! My last fill up I was pushing the limit- Fill up was 5.62 gallons- It had been zero bars longer than I wanted-, After I filled up I couldn't believe that I had a gallon left.
Turns out to be 1/5 of a gallon left :yikes:

So what's wrong...is the light on all the time but the gauge still works? If you're out of warranty, I'm sure you can disconnect the light instead of forking out $900. :dontknow:

Keep in mind that the gas tank capacity on most motorcycles is the entire capacity, including head space. About 10% of the tank is never filled, leaving room for thermal expansion and venting. 6.6 - 10% = 5.94 gallons.

Yeah, just like they did with mpg a few years ago, they should redo the information for gas tank capacity...makes a difference, for sure.
 
i average about 110 miles a tank (olny fill intell it clicks off) and when the fuel light comes on i have about 20 miles left. takes about 4 gals to fill up
