There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. New Farkle on the way

Since the is no practical way to store helmets on the bike I had a choice between 2 types either handle bar or the ones I am going to use

Helmet lock.jpg
I chose 2 of these after test hanging my helmets in both positions and like the rear better plus they will only bump the black plastic lower section. The handle bar ones become problematic if you lock the bars one side it will be a tight fit for one helmet. I also did not care for the locking system on them either. With these I can open them and both helmets can be locked with a simple swing of the lock arm. Kuryakyn 4248

My Gmax 67s ( Love 'em and they match my color too) helmets have a short D ring strap too so I ordered a couple of extenders just in case  I will post a pic of the finished product. If I back in they should be pretty invisible .

a work of caution..... USE NYLOCK NUTS ON STAINLESS SCREWS to hold everything on.

I went to Cycle Gear

Hi Bob
I went to the Cycle Gear store and bought the locks and then
made a backing plate that was wider than the lic. plate and mounted
the locks on each side, using all stainless fasteners. you could do it with
the one shown here in the original post.but you would still have to have a wider backing plate.
Also the locks at Cycle Gear run under $16.00 each on sale and you can get flat stock at the
hardware store and cut it to size, then you get 2 locks on the same plate for about $35.00
and an hour of your time.

How did you get the locks to stick out at that angle e.g. stick out towards the rear?

If I look at the 4248 kit, the lock sticks out from the side not the rear?

Sorry, dumb question... how exactly does that lock the helmet to the bike/spyder? I see the loop and saw a picture somewhere with the loop open, but if you lock the straps in that, it looks like it would be easy to just undo the straps and slide them through... is there something that goes onto the helmet tat works with the loop? Or what am I missing? Maybe just answered my own question... do you just lock the D rings in the loop?

There are no dumb questions

You put the lock loop the, metal moveable part through the "D" ring and then lock it
yea I know if I want your helmet all I need do is cut the "D"ring off but chances are
the average person is not walking around with a hack saw or bolt cutters in his or her pocket.
I have used this type of lock for years and never lost a helmet yet.... knock on wood.... or plastic I guess.

How about a link to those $16 dollar ones I didn't see them?

Interesting..!!

:popcorn: to see the outcome. We use the retractable combination cable lock from Krypyonite..attach the helmets to the seat rails..

You do realize that the RT has helmet hooks under the seat, don't you? They may require extension loops made from cable, gun locks, or zipties, however, as some helmet straps are not long enough, or some helmets don't have D-ring straps. The OEM hooks are pretty handy, though. I use them a lot.

(I played with those hooks over the course of the first Winter Lay-Up; I couldn't find any easy way to make them work for me! :gaah:)

Make a loop out of a long ziptie (or use a cable gun lock). Loop it through the helmet D-rings. the fastened starp, or the opening on a full face helmet. Hook the extension over the helmet hook and close the seat. It is really pretty easy. Our Arais have long enough starps that we can just fasten them as long as possible, then hook them and close the seat (carefully).

My D links are too short to fit the hooks under the seat and there is no easy way to change that. I do not think I should have to test fit a helmet to fit a bikes lock system before I buy it.I did not want to play with zip ties what do you do when you take the helmet off just another thing to store away. IMHO they are another BRP fail. Never had a bike that the locks could not be used on before. I had some gun locks but did not like banging the Tupperware. Only thing banging here it the black plastic the helmet won't hurt it. Open hang and lock and I am on my way.

Does anyone have a photo of the dog sniffing the helmet just before peeing? Trust me, it is not a nice experience. Especially when you don't notice the wet interior before putting the helmet on!!

Helmet now gets cable locked to the passenger grab handles and sits on the passenger seat.
