• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Platinum vs gold vs just certified dealers

If you look on the brp website and search for dealers in you area you might find the following "BRP Platinum Certified", "BRP Gold Certified", or "BRP Certified" dealers. What determines the different ratings, is it the number of BRP machines sold, the service department, the number of certified technicians, or customer feedback, or some combination of all fore mentioned.:hun:

A good question...and there is no good answer.

The highest rated dealers have at least one BRP certified mechanic. Then....many of us think that it has to do with how many sold, how much inventory do they have, etc. etc.

You may run into Platinum dealers that are crap, and Copper dealers that are very good.

Best to find out by asking locals about which dealer to visit and which to avoid. Posting on SL with your question will help. Or...use the search function and input the dealer name. Good dealers don't get a lot of press--but the bad ones do get mentioned.

I don't remember what the exact guidelines are...
But it's sufficient to know that the Dealership has to meet whatever the guidelines are, that BRP lays out for them...
At least some of the criteria involves the training of personnel.
...And if you're a Platinum Dealer; you've got to be doing something right!! :D

I didn't see any of those postings at the dealer I bought from... let's just say it was an interesting experience.

I don't believe the certificates are for service or tech support quality. I think it has to do with the number of products that a dealership can move in a given year. It may be based on all BRP products that a dealer sells for BRP: water craft, 4x4, spyder products, etc

I was told it was based on how many vechicles they sell. The more they sell the higher the rating. That seems a bit misleading to me. It should be based on quality of work by techs too.

Seems to me that referrals from existing customers of a dealership would be more important than a rating from a manufacturer that may not have even been to the dealership

i dont know but i am quite certain it has to do with, i know you will find this hard to believe, MONEY! how much money any dealer is generating for BRP in the form of sales. More money, higher rating. It would be really nice if they rated service as well or even better separate. Since you can really only have these serviced at the dealers it would be nice to know how they rate. Combination of amount of techs, amount of repairs done, amount of time for each repair and customer reviews.

It is the number of total BRP units sold that determines this, not the quality of work or number of "technicians". this includes Maverick, Commanders, Spyders etc.
