• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

product review: Sena bluetooth headset

Bought a Sena blue tooth head set while at Bikes, Blues & BBQ yesterday. Thought I would give a short review for those that might be interested.

I didn't install it myself ( had the guys in the booth do it while we walked around), but it looks fairly simple. Paired up with my iphone 3gs with no problem.

Took a couple of phone calls from Gary while we were riding around. The phone quality seemed good ( at least incoming, Gary can answer for how it sounded from his end). Turned on voice control of the phone and it worked fine, 1 false call out of 4.

The music controls are actually good. FF/RW, pause, play all worked fine, even in Pandora. Can do all that from the dial on the side of the headset or with voice control. That's functionality I don't have with the controls on the spyder. Not sure why, but when plugged into the spyder sound system it will only do FF/RW, pause, within ipod, in fact it turns off Pandora if I hit any control except volume.

The sound quality isn't what I would call great, but it's not bad. Just doesn't seem to have any bass or depth to the music. That said I can hear details in the music better than with the spyder sound system.

While it doesn't have a spare battery, if you have a 12v power outlet handy you can use it while plugged in to charge at the same time. 8 - 12 hour run time.

Haven't had a chance to test the blue tooth intercom system. Says it will work with any other blue tooth headset. When I get a chance I'll post the results of that.

:doorag:Eager to hear your thoughts on the intercom. One of the local bike shops highly recommends the Sena system; says it's all he'll carry.

We have the BlueAnt F4 and are trying to resolve some 'issues' . . . .

I bought a pair of Senas a couple of months ago and have over 3K miles on them. Love the intercom and the bluetooth works well with my Blackberry and Insignia Pilot. Battery life is very good, we would ride for a couple of days before recharging.

I did have a problem with one speaker failing, but after submitting a claim to Sena, they promptly replaced the headset unit complete.

Quick update:
couldn't get it to pair with a Scala :gaah:
a google search didn't find anyone that had paired the sena and scala, found several posts where they tried and failed. Was really hoping it would work.

Have taken several calls while at highway speeds. Seemed to work very well. I pretty satisfied with the Sena.

It's probably not going to pair with the Scala units or any other non-sena units. I have posted this before but in talking with several vendors at the national show last March here in Indy, they all said thier sets only paired with their own units. I don't know of any cross vendor blue tooth communication. :dontknow:
