• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Rerouting Zumo 660 cable

rerouting the Zumo 660 cable to the dash...is there enough slack or do I have to disconnect the harness and reroute the entire thing??

FYI!!!! I did this. the best (in my view) way to approach this job is to get a new mount with cables for the 660. Only about $60. I left all the old cabling in place as well as attached and simply tapped int the wiring at two wires. I used positaps. No I ride with the GPS up o dash and leave the rubber cover on the lower position. Just wire tie the new wires to the OEM installed wires.

I did a total reroute of my cable on my '13 RTL and it was just barely long enough for my needs. Bmwlarry has a good idea especially if you want to avoid modifying your Spyder. You could buy a new cable and a dash mount made by JT's Machine Shop(see home page for link) and leave your OEM harness in place. I think if you locate your gps harness on your Spyder you might find you could disconnect the bikes harness and connect your new harness in it's place. That way it would play through your Spyder's radio system. I'm not certain if the power connection would be the same. If you needed to adapt the wiring so power still came from the radio system you wouldn't need to go to the battery. The harness on my '13 RTL ran along the right side of the gas tank. Good luck, if would be a fun project if you like to spend time bonding with your Spyder. Good luck!

As posted in other thread…..
If my senior memory serves me right …. I bought this so I could leave the OEM set up installed on the bike. I used the JT mount with a 1 inch ball. I used a RAM extension arm that is about 6 inches to bring the GPS unit right to the rear edge of the top dash. (I also used a tiny piece of Velcro between the GPS unit bottom and top of the dash. This stopped the tiny bit of vibration of the unit itself.) I removed the windscreen & all the attachment screws holding the dash halves together (there are some hidden ones at lower front!) I dremeled a notch where the wires went between the rear edge of halves, ran the new wires along side of the OEM stuff and zip tied it all together. Next I unplugged the OEM harness and reconnected the new one exactly the same way. Last, I used positaps and connected the red & black power wires to the OEM wires. Good to GO!

Is there a video of this by chance? Have a Mount on order to position it on top of the dash. And since my bike didnt come with a GPS i have nothing to go off of as a guide.

EASY way to dash mount your GPS

JT mount arrived...lightning fast shipping by the way...installed it this AM...took about 5 minutes...

Got the GPS mount same time...took about 5 minutes for that part

Will route cable and attach power (only) to the power behind the fuel gauge..thats four (4) screws..so that might take 20 min

With this kit from JT and the GPS kit (which includes the factory Garmin motorcycle harness and the ram ball mount WITH extension...why would anybody rip apart their dash and drill holes...this is so easy!!!

Since Im about to do this, 30 minutes, care to help with what wires plug into what? Yes Fuel gauge is dissconnected, and have the JT mount show up yesterday along with RAM mount today. Pics would be great :D

outlawsix no pics sorry..
plan is to remove the speedo cluster and find correct size bullet connectors to simply plug into the old power supply wires for the fuel gauge
and Voila GPS power only when the key is on

may have to make small notch at the upper right corner of the gauge cluster to feed the wire through,,,other GPS wires will be bundled up but left intact behind the gauge panel
