• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Seat won't release!!!!

After installing the new seat strut my seat won't release:mad:. The key depresses and turns fine, there is even a bit of play in the seat ( up and down about 1/4" ). I've push and pulled and even said "cr@p"!!!!!

Can I get to the cable manually somewear ?? Under the dash maybe???

I'll say the new strut is much stronger than the OEM and was easy to put in ----BUT-----:banghead::banghead:

The seat release can ba accessed from underneath the "nose" on the right-hand side of the seat.
Here's a picture of what things look like:

Emergency Seat -Latch Release.jpg

This one has had an emergency release cable attached to it...
If you follow it back to the latch: it kind of shows you how the proper screwdriver might be used, to make it move.
But since you added the extra-strength strut: that is probably putting extra loading on the latch.
Try pushing rearward on the seat, and operating the latch...

I just replaced the seat shock with the 40# one also. I noticed that my seat does not pop up all the way, that post gets caught on the edge of the hole and only moves a little.

The OP should try pushing down on the seat, turn the key and hold it while he moves the seat around left/right/back. I got mine to release and I will try to center the post in the hole to solve my issue. YMMV but good luck.

Thanks Bob

Your picture showes me all I'll need. It doesn't move when I turn the key so I think the seat "bolt" is holding it from releasing. I'll keep at it but your picture really helped.

Fixed and better than new!!

Thanks again Bob.:D THe seat now released ( with the slight adjustement to the "latching bolt") and pops right up upon turning the key. It even turns easier!! I also installed a cable release is just like the one I put on the Frunk and is only there just in case.
The new gas strut is a great mod, Easy to install and simplifies refueling.

Thanks again ----- Kaos

I did away with all the seat drama/issues by tie strapping my seat latch to the full open position, solved that not opening problem and having to use the key everytime...took 2 minutes to do. As far as the seat not staying up after you add a drivers backrest or whatever I took my shock off, made a wooden dowel prop rod the length I needed, drilled a hole in the end where the original strut attached to the seat, put a clip on it and fastened it to the factory seat strut pin. Took 5 min and all problems solved. NOW before everyone goes bat s#$t looney that someone could get at my gas tank, let me ask.....when was the last time you heard about anyone screwing with a persons gas or tank? I'm a gambler, not too worried. safe riding!

The simple solutions are sometimes the best ! Thanks for the idea :D

Photos?

?????

Guess I don't know what you want a photo of????? In post #2 there is a photo of a cable release, mine is almost identical. The gas strut replacement looks just like the stock strut but is more powerful and easily lifts the seat upon turning the key.
