There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Has anyone mounted the aluminum Can-am Sport Rack on the rear of a Spyder RS? Would it be sturdy enough to hold a top trunk? Thank's

I have a 47L Givi box as well. Works great. Acts as a backrest too.

That's a Givi Monolock base I had bolted on. I now have a Monokey base bolted on for the Givi Monokey Maxia top box. There are angle frame pieces between the Givi base & the sportrack. It is the angle frame pieces that are bolted onto the sportrack & the Givi base then bolts onto the angle pieces. At least that's how I did it.

& how happy are you with it? Any concerns or hassles? Thx

That's pretty much how I did mine too. Except mine is a monokey so the base is thinner. I used 2 lengths of 1x2 box aluminum to space it up a bit to keep the box from hitting the rear.
Let me find a few pics...

It's a big box with a ton of space. Looks a bit odd back there but mounts very secure, even as a backrest, and gets the job done.

We don't even use the brp backrest anymore.

Now I have the Maxia 52 litre box on I am "very" satisfied. You just have to find the appropriate pieces (2) of metal to put between the sport rack & the Givi baseplate. Sorry, but I don't have pics of those. No concerns or hassles.

Hi ridercoach,

Re: Has anyone mounted the aluminum Can-am Sport Rack on the rear of a Spyder RS? Would it be sturdy enough to hold a top trunk?

I posted most of these photos in another thread; this is a home-built luggage rack:

And here is how I reinforced the back side of the Sport Rack top plate:

I used two pieces of 2" x 1/8" flat stock, cut to fit.

I do not know if these will work or not. But they do spread the stresses out over a larger area and hopefully that will be sufficient.

If you have any questions, just drop me a line; or ask to look at it at SITR. That is if it makes it that far,

Yes. I hope so.

That's how I mounted my "Really Big Butt" and hold my Ham Radio antenna on my RS!

I like how my Givi v47 looks when mounted, but I've always been Leary about how the whole thing is relying on the little barrel bolt that's used to lock the sport rack plate into the rack.

Looking @ pics it has same release button as saddlebag? Handy 3rd suitcase or cooler & looks color matched? 1thing BRP will not offer or key match. Looks great on yours fyi

Givi won't match the keys either but for the top case I put in a lock that is the same as what is in the side cases and keyed it the same. I had to do some careful filing and it was a bit of work but now all 3 of my cases use the same key.

What kind of weight does it look like it can safely support? Looking @ tourtank mounted there, 3 or 5 gallon spare. If lid will offer the flat surface to mount to.
