• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spring for Trunk

Trap

New member
Saw a setup on the web yesterday where a spring was attached so that the trunk lid would stay open when you open with the key. So I'm trying to find out what kind of spring and how it was attached to where. Like the idea very much as I'm always holding something in one hand while opening with other. :spyder: :spyder:

 In spyder shop talk there a a few threads that address this isuue complete with pictures and step by step instrcutions.

You should be able to adjust the trunk latch to make it work properly without adding a spring.

While mine doesn't pop up very high, I don't have to use 2 hands - I just turn the key - the trunk 'clicks' and then I can open it.

After a while some of ours had the rubber gasket take a set, and fail to work anymore. After adjusting mine twice, I finally added the spring. Half hour job, tops.

This is one of the easiest and cheapest mods to make and, when done, you will just marvel at how easy and effective it is. Should not cost more than $1 for spring, washer, nut and screw. On a 1 to 5 scale of 1 easy and 5 hard, this is a 1/2.

Mine works the same, just turn key and it unlatches and stays unlatched. Maybe the rubber gasket from the trunk liner is enough to make it pop open!?

The rubber gasket is enough to make it pop open when you adjust the hood latch pin properly. My problem was that about 2 months after adjusting the pin, the rubber gasket became permanently compressed just enough to not be popping the hood any longer. Like Scotty said,

Instead of trying to adjust the pin every so often or risking having the rubber gasket become so compressed that it started leaking, I just installed a spring to help pop the lid.
