There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Squealing front brake pads

Can anyone recommend an aftermarket set of front brake pads for a 2014 RT-S that don't sqeal like the OEM ones??. Or maybe a solution to stop the OEM ones from stealing?? Any suggestions would be appreciated

How many miles do you have on the current pad set?

There are several things you can do. The most effective require removing the pads. But there are aerosol products that can help. CRC De-Squeal is one. This may be temporary fix. But it might be just what you need. You'll have to try it to see.

I also recommend getting up to 50/60 mph and braking as hard as safely possible to around 20 mph and immediately repeat 2 more times. The object is to get the brakes very hot. Then ride for at least 5 miles without applying the brakes if safely possible to let the system cool down.

Also, washing the rotors/pads with soap and a good spray of water can give temporary relief at times.

If you want to get more serious and are willing to remove the brake pads. There are other methods which tend to be more permanent if the ones above don't do the trick.

Good luck.

If you have Brembo brakes and the original pads, you hae very good quality pads.
Assuming the pads are in good condition and have a lot of meat on them....
Try this first. Make 4 VERY HARD brakings from 50mph down to 20mph. If this doesn't work, then....
Try this; remove the pads, Place a piece of sandpaper on a flat surface and stroke the pads on it several time. Clean the dust off. Clean the rotors with brake cleaner or alcohol. Lastly, apply a veneer of Disc Brake Quiet to the backs of the pads and reassemble.

Coat the back of your brake pads with an anti squeal paste. I use either NAPA Sil-Glyde and Permatex Disc Brake Caliper Lube. The 1st goes on the back of the pads the second on the pins slides bushings pistons seals. CRC makes a good one also as does Permatex Disc Brake Quiet.

EBC fully cinestered pads are good replacements. Baja Ron sells them, but to stop the sguealing on any of the pads be sure to apply a light coat of Permatex ceramic brake lubricant on the back of the pads. I have had the same issue with mine.

I too, had the squealing brake pads. And this method is what cured them totally.

I have the EBC HH pads bought from Bajaron and occasionally they will squeak. I have done all the above, but when they squeak, I do the hard braking routine and it goes away. The squeaking usually comes on after a lot of riding around trafficky Portland and being easy on the brakes.

To lessen confusion, since this topic is specific to the front brakes, Spyders using Brembo brake calipers (original post stated 2014 RTS which has Brembo brakes) do not have slide pins and are bolted solidly to the suspension upright. The brake pads follow the disc surface on account of having hydraulic pistons within the inner and outer caliper halves.

Not arguing this or debating this with you, merely preventing confusion for others that read your words.

The 'Squeal' that you get from brake pads is actually the result of high frequency vibration set up by the pad/rotor friction interface. To stop the squeal, you must stop, or at least reduce, this vibration below the sound threshold. The products that you apply to the back of the pads comes in the form of a vibration absorbing gel. You want to cover the entire backing plate as thick as reasonably possible. The more gel you apply, the greater the vibration absorption.

Once you understand the concept. The treatment makes sense.

For Brembo equipped Spyders EBC fully sintered pads and EBC rotors from Bajaron and installed per his instructions will stop you like the hand of God.
