• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Steering Issues-SM or SE-5 or both?

I was reading some of the threads about those that are having issues with the steering. I was wondering if those that have steering issues have an SM or SE-5. Thanks!

My sm Steering issues

I have PE #610 with 20,000 miles on it and the only serious problem I have had with it is with the power steering being intermittent. Being intermittent, it would require a lot of force to make it move and then all of a sudden the power steering would kick in an you would have oversteer. This is not a good feeling. On the open highway you can almost make yourself believe it is working correctly. In traffic it is a nightmare. On curves it is a workout AND a nightmare.

First they changed the entire power steering unit- no help.
Next they tightened a ground wire under the seat. Fixed it for 12,000 miles
Last they changed the gear position sensor?? It is working well now for a few hundred miles.

I doubt that there is any difference between a SM and SE except for that gear position sensor maybe. Bigger brains then mind will have to address whether that is the difference.

I understand that the steering mechanism is the same in both the SM and the SE-5. I was wondering if maybe it could be a defective part that was used either in the PE Models or before they started producing the SE-5's.

I think there are more SM's on the road right now but my guess is percentage wise it would be about the same. :dontknow:
