• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. What is the Correct Garmin for my '16 RT Ltd?

I've already searched the Forums and at my wits end.

Bought a '16 RT Limited with only 1200 miles. One owner kept it in a temp. controlled garage. I've already replaced the 10yo tires and wanted to use the installed Garmin mount. Purchased a NOS Can-am Garmin 590LM, but the mounting tabs are not the same size. The Dealer where I purchased it from says this is the correct Garmin. Hoping someone from the Spyderverse can help. Photos show the unit and the difference in the mounting tabs.

well, your dealer is a little off. 2016 has a Garmin 660, looked on the BRP spec sheet. The mounts are different. I have the 590 on my 2015. Have to switch one or the other, so keeping mount and finding a 660 is the best

Thank you so much. I'll certainly be on the lookout for a 660 now!

Ditch that mount and get a Garmin Zumo XT. It has a much better/readable bright sun light display than earlier models.

I'm pretty sure the "mount" comes built into the 2016s.
Garmin sell new 'base inserts & wiring kits' for the mounts inbetween the handlebars on Spyders, so he'd just hafta keep the handlebar bracket it's screwed onto, but swap out the baseplate that the 660 GPS clicks into and replace it with that for a Garmin XT or XT2. Quite a few here in Oz have done just that! ;)

Buy the Garmin XT2, the kit comes with the mount, wiring and everything you need to mount it correctly. JMO ;)

Yes, I want to keep the mount that came on the rig. It is hard-wired, so unless you can adapt something like my BMW GS, I'll stick with what was supposed to be placed there.

So does the base plate and mount come apart? Looks to me like it's all one piece...

I have a Garmin 660 that came off of my 2016 RT Limited when I traded it in on a 2022 RT S2S . I don't use it at all anymore and I would be happy to sell it for reasonable price. Maybe $100 or so. I just charged the battery and did the latest map update on it. I tried to insert a picture on this, but it wouldn't let me. If you're interested, DM me.
