• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

when it's not your time,,, this is scary

When It's Not Your Time

one lucky guy

I'm not sure where this event took place. In a state, with or without a helmet requirement. But I'm sure he had a lot less injury by his wearing a helmet and other protective gear. Do you know how he's doing now, and how soon he expects to return to riding? Accidents are not discriminatory, but when one happens, hopefully you're not severely impaired, nor anyone else.

The helicopter was from LA County, so I guess it's in Calif. I'm also glad he was wearing a helmet and other protective gear.

It's also good that he had a buddy riding behind him. If not, he could have been there a while before anyone noticed he was missing.

Glad he was relatively ok. What a scarry ride.

But. Hard to tell, was speed the main cause? I'm leaning that way. If this happened a second or two later, he wound have been in the path of the SUV that was headed the other way.

Partially speed, but also

newbie mistake: riding over his ability. Notice he probably got surprised at the tightness of the curve. Instead of trusting his tires and leaning more, he brakes which causes the bike to stand up. He drops the landing gear (legs out) as he target fixates at the cliff that he's headed towards. The luck part is crashing seconds before the SUV comes around the corner.

Wow...!!

speaks volumes to the fact that if you choose to ryde that way have a buddy with you. No one would have seen or heard him down there . :yikes: hope he recovers well and thanks his buddy a lot....

Lucky, lucky man.:bowdown: We have some of the roadside cliffs similar, and I always try to make sure that we take the curves safely.

:agree: He may have seen the SUV coming and panicked. I think he said something about the rear sliding when he braked. So he may have gone too heavy on the front brake.

How about when it IS your time?
The rider ended up recording the exact circumstances of his own death...

It doesn't get any more serious than this! nojoke

Looks like Angeles Crest Highway - used to ride it a lot. Take Hwy 2 off of the I-210 just southeast of Glendale, CA. Glendale is near Burbank, CA.
