• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Which battery is CORRECT?

Howdy.

I have a dilemma. I have access to two dealers. I own a 2010 RT and a 2011 RT Ltd. I bought a battery for each after three years from the original sale date. Now, a local dealer has said I used the wrong battery.

So...which is correct? ETX18 OR YTX24BS?

Depending on the answer, I will determine who gets my business in the future.

John, my original battery only lasted one yr. on my '08 GS. I installed an Oddysey PC680 an it's been great for 5 1/2 yrs now. Good luck with your search.

As I see it - stick with what the manual says you should use. Yuasa is a great battery and yours should be the YTX24 BS or YTX24HL...

I have never replaced a battery, so always have used the OEM.

The battery on the 2010 was going on 4 years when I traded it off. Had I not done the trade, I would have replaced the battery early on in the season--just to be safe. OEM would have been my battery of choice.

I also "supposedly" bought the wrong battery.. a -BS model.

As that other post said, bottle filled.

SCREW IT... I am going to use it. This weekend I plan to put it in as I have been nursing my original on my 2011 RTS and it's getting to the point now that I am worried about starting on some days.

I already bought it and I understand the issue. I am going to cycle it a few times to make sure the acid is absorbed. It only cost me $80 shipped so I am going to go for it.... WORST THING that can happen... Is it doesn't last. I do not buy the idea of acid running all over the bike. Sorry that is a scare tactic I believe as I have worked with this type of battery in many other applications and never had a acid leak!

But we shall see. I know this wont help you right now but I will report back here say a year or maybe more from now!

Bob
