There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Which Deceleration module/brake light flasher do you recommend?

So i have been contemplating adding a module or something so that my brake lights would flash when decelerating since our rykers decel quickly after rolling off the throttle. Has anyone done that and which brands did you use. Any install troubles or tips would be appreciated. I have looked at various options including the following

My personal favorite is the Kisan TailBlazer https://kisantech.com/tailblazer.html Price is comparable to what you are looking at.

I like it because the flash rate starts quick, then slows to a stop in a few seconds. This is not legal in California, which restricts a modulator to no more than four flashes before going solid.

In spite of that being my favorite, I recently installed a Signal Dynamics BackOff XP (one of your links) on my wife's RT. I was looking for a license frame from Signal Dynamics that was no longer in production. One of the managers (an owner??) found a frame and had it made for me, so I got one of their modulators, as well.

Some modulators are strictly motion-sensitive, others need to be triggered by the brake lights. There are advantages to both, but I prefer the brake-triggered versions.

I have a Vololights and they seem to be quite effective. I noticed that drivers backed off once I had them installed. They just connect to the license plate light, so there is no potential for a Can-bus issue. They activate when you decelerate using the throttle, gears, or brakes. They don't require application of the brakes. The sensitivity is adjustable and I have mine set to the most sensitive 'touring' mode. Roughly $110.

Gentlemen, I know I am kind of late to this post, but I am new to the Can Am Spyder F3 and spyder lovers site. I am looking for info... I installed an STS Smart brake module and it was working fine until it wasn't... it started setting off the ABS, VSS, and limp home mode on at least three occasions. I was always able to reset and get home. I disconnected the trigger wire to the module and the problem has gone away. Contacted STS and they advised trying a Diode. I like the product but am not sure if a diode is the answer... I just ordered a Vololight 2.0 which seems way too simple, but I am hoping it will do the job... my belief is the Smart Brake module when activated sent a signal that I was hitting the brake, but the VSS system saw no brake pressure and thought ABS had a fault... Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Good day to you all.

+1 on the Vololight -- it's a great product and doesn't mung with the bike's electronics. I noticed an immediate difference in the following distance of vehicles behind me. And you don't even have to touch the brake -- it has adjustable sensitivity and starts flashing whenever you decelerate, flashing at a rate proportionate to your slow down.

Been looking at the Brake Free helmet module. Also G Force sensitive and won't trigger if you're just looking around or doing a mirror check. Ultra bright and rechargeable. You can get additional magnetic mounts for the light for multiple helmets, and I'm thinking the back of my trunk should make a nice position as well. Oh - and no need to splice into the bike wiring as it's completely independent.

Pretty expensive, but hey ... I'm worth it. ;-}

Another one I just found on Amazon. Smaller than the Brake Free, but I'm thinking that would be a good thing on a half helmet.

Also a third the price with the same options, plus a running light!

The Amazon unit is branded Sykik and the video is for a Steel Mate, but they look like the same unit. Same price too, so I expect it's yet another importer branded package, identical except for the brand. Main complaint I've seen is the G Force sensor isn't sensitive enough and the light won't come on unless you're doing a hard stop - not necessarily a bad thing, as the Ryker decels quick. I may just try one out.

Sykik Wireless Helmet brake light

PS - they've got a similar unit that uses remote sensors to detect your bike's lights but does NOT have the G Force sensor to detect decel, so careful what you buy.

... and yet another option. Similar to the Steel Mate, only smaller and made for bicycle helmets. Cheaper, and I figure the G Force sensor will be a whole lot more responsive as we're talking maybe a maximum of 20mph. Smaller will fit the half helmet better too.

Got one coming, and I'll post back with results, and would hope everyone else does as well?

Thanks to all for the feedback....If all goes well I'll post a photo of the Vololight system when installed...

I added a T3 strobe as a third brake light. I just lightly tap the brake to wake up the cagers. I'm all about saving that cash.

The brake signal does go to the ECM. A diode blocking the signal from the module to the ECM would likely work.

I actually have the brake free light on my helmet and have been using it on every ride. My friend was following me and said it worked every time I rolled down the throttle or used the brake. It's definitely worth it in my opinion.

I've been thinking about the Vololight, but I can't convince myself it will quite fit on the Ryker.

Don't waste you money on a vololight. Got one for my Ryker. It came with no directions and the magnet was loose in the box (think it was a return unit) Well got it on the bike and it stayed on all the time, went for a steady light to flashing while bike was stationary and would never go to stand by mode ( light off). I am taking it off today and sending it back. It is a shame because it is a great idea.

PS ... came up with another high tech option.

Tap the brake pedal a couple times any time I'm slowing down. <G>

Late to this question but....... Has anyone installed the ST2 Brake Module from www.st2-systems.com ?? It is a Motion sensor technology used to detect deceleration on the bike and therefore blinks the brake lights on your motorcycle. Since, the wiring on Spyders is delicate and I don't want to create more problems with computer failure signals and locating the right wires under the seat to connect to is a complete separate headache. Any guidance or suggestions where to search reliable info will be appreciated. (I own a 2018 Spyder RT). A Video link would be great. Thanks. I've already searched on youtube and Lamonster garage and did not see anything that help me get it done correctly.

I bought the Brake Free for the wife and I. It works pretty well. She doesn't ride much with me and she's always the lead, but this helps me when she decelerates without warning. There's was a few times before we got these where I had to stomp on my brake because she slowed down for a curve that I didn't necessarily have to slow down so much for.

I had the brake free but sold it? Worked OK but I got tired of the turning on and the whole procedure. I use the 3 blink brake light on the Ryker.
