• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is there anyway to drop the windshield on the 2012 rt ? I'm 5' 8" the top of the windshield is right at eye level,Im either straining to look over or under.

The RT has an electric height adjustment. The control is on the left side, key on, push switch. I am same height, sounds like you have yours set at the lowest setting.

If it's at the lowest setting, then you may need to look in to a shorter windshield - I don't even know if there is one :dontknow:I can say that at speeds over 50, that setting the windshield at that height - where the top is right in my line of sight, I get the least wind noise, and least buffetting. I can't ride with it all the way up. It thrashes my head too much.

I believe that BRP has one that's two inches lower...
We've also got sponsors in here that have lower windshields. I think that Lamont is using one...

I had the new two inch shorter windscreen from BRP installed on my new 2012 RTS and it's great! When it is down all the way I can get a good breeze without turbulence. In the rain I raise it up and it covers me and my wife on back. I'm 5'3" and she is 5'1". One of the great things about being short and not to big is that you get great coverage by the bike and gas mileage!

Part number is as follows; 21900243. It's called "Touring Windshield" height 23" x width 22"
price is listed as $254.99. The dealer only charged me $200.00 as I was buying a new RTS.

I agree.

I am also 5'8". I raised mine enough to be able to look thru the windshield just below the top and it seems to work okay for me, although I don't get much airflow on me.

The traditionally correct way to have a windscreen is to be able to have it low enough to look over while providing turbulence coverage. Looking through a windscreen is not considered to be the best way. If rain or mud is thrown up at you from passing cars you may be blinded for a period. I know a lot of riders like to look through their windscreens and I don't have an issue if that is what you want to do. I just prefer to be able to look over them and get the cooler airflow without disturbance. Rule of thumb was to be able to see a spot on the road about three to four bike lengths in front of you over the top of the shield.

I have the BRP sport windscreen and it's a definite plus. I'm same height and at lowest end you see over it easily and up high for rain or to reduce helmet buffet at high speed. It also has less turbulence on highway. It's about 2" shorter and also narrower giving more airflow to rider.

I totally agree with this post, I went from the 2010 barn door windshield all the way to this sport version and like it so far. I also noticed that strong crosswinds were not as tiring to the arms and hands with this shield compared to my huge 2010 stock shield.
PS... sponsor honda east of toledo HAD one on sale at just over $100 recently, you might check their site to see if it is still available on sale price.

Dang! I should have been keeping an eye on them... :gaah: My 2010 barn door has a decent scratch right where I'm trying to look out through it when I decide to hide out of the breezes... I'm thinking that what I need is the standard 2011/2012 height screen.
