• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. How do I get Turn by turn Audio directions with Apple CarPlay?

I am experiencing the following issue when using google maps in Apple CarPlay. I have the audio routed to the Bike speakers. I can hear music through the speakers, but no turn by turn audio with google maps. If I just use my phone using blue tooth, I get music and turn by turn audio, but obviously, no map due to not being connected to Apple Carplay

The Apple CarPlay section on Page 50 of the 2026 Operator's Guide has this information:

To use the Apple CarPlay, you must

1. Connect a compatible smartphone to the display via USB cable.
2. Pair a helmet audio system to the display via Bluetooth.

There are separate settings to have the radio play through the bike's speakers or through the headset.

You missed the part where I said I have Google Maps or Apple Maps and Pandora Music (or any other music app)using Apple Car play which means I have met the requirements for using Apple Carplay. Only issue is the audible turn by turn directions do not play through the bike speakers, whereas music etc. does

You might need to check that the navigation volume is turned up. I use Android, but CarPlay has similarities in that each thing (music, nav notifications, etc.) can have their own volume... and any one can be turned off. Since I don't use CarPlay often at all, see below from Google. I hope it helps:

To fix navigation voice instructions not coming through Apple CarPlay, check the mute, volume, and audio routing settings on your iPhone and inside your navigation app. (1, 2)

1. Unmute the Navigation App
    • Apple Maps: While an active route is running, tap the speaker icon on the CarPlay screen (or your iPhone screen) and make sure it is set to Unmuted. (1, 2, 3)
    • Google Maps: Open Google Maps on your phone, tap your profile icon, go to Settings > Navigation, and under guidance audio, select Unmute. (1, 2)

2. Check Volume and Audio Route Settings
    • Apple Maps Volume: Go to your iPhone’s Settings > Apps > Maps > Spoken Directions, select Louder volume, and turn on Directions pass spoken audio. (1)
    • Google Maps Bluetooth Routing: In Google Maps Settings > Navigation, turn on Play voice over Bluetooth (or Play as Bluetooth phone call so the car treats the voice prompt like an incoming call). (1, 2)
    • Physical Car Volume: Turn up your car’s volume knob while a navigation prompt is actively speaking or right after tapping the speaker icon, as infotainment systems track media volume and voice guidance volume separately. (1, 2)

3. Quick Workarounds & Resets
    • Audio Source Switch: If you have a built-in infotainment glitch (common in some vehicles), temporarily switch your car’s audio source to the standard FM/AM radio for a few seconds, then switch it back to CarPlay.
    • Restart: Unplug your iPhone, restart both your phone and your car’s infotainment system, and reconnect. (1, 2)

I'm sorry I that I didn't explain it better.

Playing music through the bike's speakers is supported, regardless of the source of the music, whether it's the bike's radio or a music app on your phone.
Apple CarPlay navigation instructions are not supported through the bike's speakers, which means you have not met all of the requirements to use Apple CarPlay for navigation.

It doesn't matter whether you use Google Maps or Apple Maps, since both require the Apple CarPlay architecture and connection to the bike to work.

Apple CarPlay on the Spyder requires a bluetooth headset paired to the bike.

I have a Sena 3S Plus Boom Microphone Kit installed in my helmet. It supports several bluetooth connections, including two cell phones and a "GPS" device. I have the phone 1 setting paired to my cell phone for calls, and used the GPS pairing instructions to pair my headset to my Spyder.
I have found that the Spyder is a bit finicky about the startup sequence, so I first turn the bike on, then roll the throttle forward when the screen prompts me. Only then do I turn the headset on and plug my iPhone into the USB connector in the glove box. At that Point the CarPlay screen becomes active on the Spyder.
