Garmin GPS backordered

My dealer gave me a good price for an installed Garmin in return for the initial issues I had when taking it home the first time. I am anxious to get the unit, since adding a Ram-Mount seems a bit more difficult and less neat on the RT than was so on the RS.

Unfortunately the unit is back-ordered until the end of May. I hope the end of May does not become the end of June... July... Aug, and so on.

If I hadn't already owned a Zumo 550, I would have gone the OEM route.

But just so you know, there is another option for a bracket available to mount the GPS should you choose another GPS. It's fairly close to the OEM bracket.

Though it is still overpriced, an installed price under $1000 seemed OK. have GPS on my iphone, and it works well. I could use the Ram mount idea, but I also would need to run power, perhaps from a secondary power plug.

Since I spent so much time and money trying to get my RS "perfect," I suppose I would rather let the dealer install the unit-I considered their XM unit as well, but my solution seems to work fairly well, though is not integrated as the factory one would be.

Better double check on the GPS being "backordered". I placed an order for a RTS SE5 on April 26 and negotiated a fair price on the GPS accessory with install at that time. I got a call from the dealer on Tuesday that the GPS had arrived at the dealers.

They will install it at my 600 mile service. Perhaps your dealer had placed his order earlier
