There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Tank bags that work with Helibars?

Been doing my research into riser options for my Spyder. I'm leaning towards the ESI 4" risers, but I also like the block-style Helibar risers quite a bit.

I know from earlier threads that the pullback on the Helibars preclude you from using a Can-Am tank bag. Are there any other tank bags or tank bag-like options that *do* work with the Helibar users?

As important as risers are to me, I'm wedded to the convenience of a tank bag, I refuse to give up the bag if I can avoid it.

Thanks all!

I haven't found a tank bag yet that fits. The Nelson Rigg Spyder specific bag doesn't fit. Cortech has a "mini" tank bag but the footprint is just as large as the Nelson Rigg bag, so I don't believe it will fit.

Anyone who has the HeliBar riser who has found a tank bag, I also would sure like to know what it is!!!

I have the ESI 4" risers with the BRP tankbag no problems not sure of the other risers will.

Yup, I believe yours was the post many moons ago that mentioned the bags don't go with the Helibars. I own the Cortech mini-bag, I really like it and would rather not lose it.

Hopefully someone will come along and present a solution...

I can't tell you how disappointed I was to send back the Nelson Rigg Can-Am specific bag! I saw Spyderwolf's pictures of his installation of the bag and thought for sure there was room enough for the Helibar riser. But, nope!! No way, no how! It was a sad day sending it back to Motorcyclegear.com.

I have searched more motorcycle online stores for bags with small to tiny footprints. Searched and searched. I can't find anything small enough to fit. I have finally resorted to getting a waist pack I can strap around over my jacket. Pathetic, but true. I don't think there is a bag small to be had. Oh well.

I wish you luck keeping your Cortech. I positively hate the look of the ESI risers. Just my opinion. So the Helibar riser is working out as a riser for me. In fact, it's just perfect in every way except for the tank bag issue.

Oh, dear. I feel my blood pressure going up all over again over this tank bag thing. I can't tell you how I looked and looked for a tank bag that would work!!!

I have the Helibar riser and there really isn't a bag out there that will work with them.

I do however have an idea... It requires that you opted for the center powerlet and ram ball mount for your risers.

Find a bag you like... Probably one that is a bit rigid, but not too big. You can very easily mount a ram ball to the bottom of the bag as long as you back the ball mount on the inside with some metal, thin plywood, or even plexiglass.... Then use a short ram arm to finish the deal. This is on my list of things to do.

For an added bonus, use the powerlet and a weather tight connector through the bag to keep your cell phone handy and charged. Here is how Deb did it with the BRP bag: http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5171&highlight=tank+power

Have you considered a handlebar bag?

Are there any that fit the less-than-typical size of the Spyder's handlebar console?

I have a Castle bag attached to my ESI risers.

First pic. just shows that I have full view of the spyder display.

Second pic. is an overall view.

Third pic. is from the top which shows attachment.

Side Tank Bag Alternative

I didn't like any of the tank or handlebar bags. Instead I went with Roadgear's side tank bags.

Roadgear made the side to side attaching straps longer for the Spyder at no charge. They hold a ton of stuff and aren't sitting in my face. Just a suggestion of a product that works for me. If anyone's interested in what these bags look like on a Spyder, I would be glad to post em.

Yes, please post them, I'm curious...

Darn! The site I posted is out of the bags until next Ski-Doo season. I'm having them hold onto my order as other sites wanted ridiculous shipping fees!! I've done this long without it. I'm willing to wait.

Here are pics of the Roadgear Hi-Adventure Side Tank Bags on my Spyder. I've got the saddlebags also. The prices were reasonable, were very accomodating and requested pics for future sales to others. The combo is perfect for my needs and my be for others.

Since the pics were taken, I adjusted the straps on the saddlebags so that they sit horizontal rather than slanted as shown.

I like the handlebar bags better. But, to each their own. Now, there's a third choice.

JMO, like yours above in #12..

Thanks for sharing... always nice to have options!

I guess what I'm learning from all of the above that if i go with the Helibars (which is what I want to do) I wont be able to use the Can-Am tank bag that came with my touring package. Nor use the 1" riser that came with the package also. Oh well, maybe they'll give me a credit. :sour:
