• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Nam and post nam vets - an old friend is on its way out

Quite the chopper no matter what model it was. Had a few good and not so good rides in them in Nam. hope the 'J' model serves our troops well.

It took a lot of punishment and kept flying . . . The C-130 was, and still is, one of the best investments this country has made in an aircraft . . . It has been in the USAF inventory since 1956. I love that bird . . .

C-130H - end of an era - Afghanistan. Making way for the latest and greatest 'J' model.

If you ever needed its assistance. You know how exilirating it was to hear the drone of those turbo props. Especially so, when eminating from the pitch black of a night sky.

So long old friend:cheers:

It was even more exhilarating to be on board and hear those turbo props reversing while trying to stop on the short bumpy PSP airstrip in Qui Nhon, Viet Nam. Also I remember the short time I was there, seeing one not make it and crash in the water, killing the crew. I have a lot of memories that I will never forget, aboard a C130.

Never flew on the H. Flew some on A models :yikes:, a lot on E models, some time on MC130E and AC130Es. The John Deere of aircraft. If it was a long enough flat spot, you could land it and take off. Combat landings and take offs would tighten the lower cheek muscles real tight.
