There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Spyder Re-Sale Value

Questions

Hi I am currently shopping for a pre-owned Spyder to save some money. I've seen prices ranging from $13,800 for a SE5 to $16,500 for a SM5, all 2008 models with less than 3000 miles on them. Is it the b/c the economy is bad or Spyder has a low resale value? Any thoughts? Thanks

welcome The economic conditions are affecting the resale price of everything right now autos bikes housing.Certain areas have been hit harder so that is why you see price flux .
H-D were always sacred to this stuff and there prices are not holding also.
Then it just depends how much the person has into it and how fast they want to sell it:spyder2:

:agree:

Many Spyders are being sold right now due to job loss.

At 13 grand, thats about 20% lost value in the first year. All vehicles lose thousands as soon as you drive them off the lot. You can pick up a good deal right now.

I guess I could have saved a couple thou by waiting for some used ones to come up for sale. I figure I already got a thousand dollars worth of "return on my investment" in smiles.

:ohyea:

I also think you may see the Spyders starting out fairly high and then the price dropping over time. So you see a range of prices.

I just bought used. I've been watching ads for a while. I waited until the owner posted a price drop indicating he was becoming more flexible over the price. Then I offered lower than that. I got what I think is a pretty good deal considering it had aftermarket accessories too.

You do have to be willing to risk losing out on a deal. Also, at least around here, not that many used Spyders being offered.

I beat the price a dealer was offering on used Demo with no add ons. I feel pretty good about it.

Good luck to you in your search.

I put a Wanted ad on Craigslist here in Tampa, saying I would pay $12k for a yellow one, got a call 2 days later, guy needed to pay his mortgage NOW, and we ended up settling for 13k even, only had 700 miles on it, got the color and mileage I wanted. Oh, should also mention, that when you pay cash, sometimes the seller will graciously indicate a much smaller amount paid to save you on taxes at the DMV. (not saying we did that :-) )
If your not financing, cash is king right now.

I check out ebay occasionally to see what they are bringing. There are definitely deals to be had. Also if you are worried about future resale, I'd say who cares. I didn't buy mine as an investment. It is meant for me to have fun with, so even if it's worth a few thousand less than I payed for it new, it is totally worth every penny to me. I'd drive myself crazy if I started thinking about how my house, cars, and toys have depreciated. My house is my home, my cars are a necessity for my wife and I, and my Spyder is therapy.... Consider why you are buying before you spend the money, then go find a great deal!:2thumbs:
