• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How noticeable is the Engine heat: F3 vs RT?

I'm on wife #4, but I wouldn't make the mistake of passing comment on the weight of any of them. Been married to #4 for 32 years now and she's been the only one to really encourage my two or three wheel addiction without complaint. If my Spyder has a top heavy weight issue, it isn't due to my...

F3's Plastic panel cracked - anyone else/any ideas how? Anyone who has removed this panel have any advice?

Dilute some CPA glue and let it drain into the crack from a syringe and when it’s soaked in there hit it with some accelerator or a hair drier. Once dry trim it flat with a razor blade and/or sand it flush. You are going to hide it anyway so you are going to need a flush joint. Now purchase...

Engine Trouble - intermittently won't start! Any ideas on what to look for?

I’d replace every piece of vacuum hose I could find. As for heat related, my favorite enemy on any engine that does this to me is to replace the crank position sensor. I don’t know where it is on a 998, but it’s usually by the flywheel or magneto. They aren’t very expensive, which of course...

How noticeable is the Engine heat: F3 vs RT?

Potentially, it depends upon the issue, and the dealer. For jurisdictions that still do emissions testing for bikes, there is that to consider.

Where to find the RT-L Air filter - it's not where my Owner's Manual suggests!

Funnily enough my wife is the same. Told to do something on the right or the left, she invariably does the opposite and has to do this little thing with twiddling her fingers to figure out which is which. She openly admits she can’t readily figure out right from left when verbally told things...

Where to find the RT-L Air filter - it's not where my Owner's Manual suggests!

LHD - I was half asleep. I meant driving on the left hand side of the road is more common than people think, especially here in the US. They tend to just think the UK drives on the left and the rest of the world on the right because everywhere’s like America, right. Yes, LHD is left hand drive...

Where to find the RT-L Air filter - it's not where my Owner's Manual suggests!

England, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Japan, Hong Kong (China), Macau (China), Ireland, Malta, Cyprus, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, half of Africa including South Africa, most of the Caribbean. Even the US Virgin Islands drives on the left. Sweden, Iceland, Nigeria and...

Where to find the RT-L Air filter - it's not where my Owner's Manual suggests!

I would advise against blowing out an air filter. Some of the dust you blow out ends up on the inside of the filter, especially fine dust as you describe. Frankly, once I've removed an air filter, I replace it with a new one if it looks dusty, not blow it out and re-use it. I also vacuum out...

How noticeable is the Engine heat: F3 vs RT?

My iPad Mini has the Kindle App, the Barnes and Noble Nook App, and the Libby County Library book borrowing App. I just leave it on the USB charge port in the trunk. By the time I’ve read something interesting, the traffic jams have long cleared up. I just make sure I’ve downloaded books as I’ve...

Is there any detailed manual available for the 10.25" display system? How do you use it with your phone and headsets?

One thing I learned is that for Apple CarPlay you only need two connections. First disconnect your iPhone from your helmet’s Bluetooth connection by forgetting the connection. Now connect you iPhone to the Spyder using a USB DATA cable. Now connect your helmets to your Spyder via Bluetooth...

How noticeable is the Engine heat: F3 vs RT?

Both my prior RT LTD and my current S2S are the same. In 100+F heat, stop lights are OK. In freeway traffic jams everything is OK until the fans kick on. Then it gets real toasty. If it’s a freeway accident and it’s going to be a while to clear, I’ll pull off onto a gas station and sit and drink...

Do you have a vegetable garden &/or grow any Fruit trees? What time & effort do you put into it, and what do you grow?

Living in Draper, mountain lions are a fairly rare event here. One this winter with no snowpack was very unusual. Usually they don’t stray from around the hiking trails, but they don’t seem to bother the hikers any. They’ll track you whilst out on walks, you’ll see them doing it about 1% of the...

Unexplained drained battery - anyone else? Any help/ideas?

Yes and do that charge off the bike. AGM batteries are great but how you initially treat them adds to their longevity. Make sure your charger and maintainer have an AGM mode. And what Peter says above. Just slinging in a new battery off the spares shelf is not how to do it.

    Happy Birthday

We tried. We called. But he was out celebrating as there was a Polka event on. He’ll outlive me. At 95, mind you his mother made it to 101 and didn’t really die of old age per se. He still has two older sisters still alive. My family is all dead long ago. I think my wife will be collecting the...

Thoughts on my first SS1000 with the Spyder

I’m retired now. I don’t have any place I have to be in a set amount of time. So, I plan journeys of 300 mile legs. My arthritis hurts and I have cardiovascular issues too. It doesn’t matter if it’s on the Spyder or in my Range Rover, 300 or perhaps 350 miles in the car and I’m done. When I...
