• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How can I leave the parking brake off when parked in the garage?

Morning all.
Apologies if this has been discussed before and I think it has, but be darned if I can find it. Yes I'm a newbie LOL.
2015 Spyder SE6 F3 park brake, how do I leave it off when parked in the garage? I can't see the sense in parking it on a level surface with tension on the cable and associated parts when not needed. I will chock the wheels just because it makes me feel better. :-) Same thing come winter, I don't want to leave it tensed up. I tried this am, but I got the constant beeping which isn't going to happen.
 
Don't overthink the alleged problem. The parking brake cable is specified to handle way more than the force the brake motor will apply to set the brake. Moreover, and you can test this yourself, turn off the engine with the Spyder in gear, move it manually and you will see that in gear, the SE6 clutch plates cause more drag on the gear system than if you shift the roadster into Neutral before turning off the engine if you are determined to leave it sit with the parking brake off.

Not really worried about the drag or lack of as the only time I intend to not use the brake is in the garage where the floor is level... somewhat. :-)
 
It's not a problem either way as long as you don't forget that it will roll if you leave the brake off. And the annoying beeping. Yes, it's only 30 seconds. It just seems like 5 minutes.

It won't roll anywhere on a finished concrete floor unless you push it. I've been parking mine inside the shop with the parking brake off for over 5 years. I can push it up close to the wall when I leave it there, or pull it out away from the wall to work on it or polish it. It never moves at all without pushing or pulling it. The parking brake beeping is no problem either. You don't need to wait for it to quit beeping. You can shut everything down, get off, and walk over to where you hang your helmet up. About time you hang the helmet on the hook the brake will stop beeping. It doesn't need to be left in gear either. It won't roll unless you push or pull on it pretty hard.
 
Did just that, beeping stopped, able to roll it around. Call me paranoid but I still used chocks in case of an earthquake LOL.
Ordered the O rings, KN oil filter and picked up a couple jugs of T6 today so I can change the oil on the ole girl. CAN$ 40 for 5 O rings is nuts, I'll be sourcing them somewhere else for sure. Also ordered the two aftermarket drain plugs as well, recessed plugs don't sit well with me.
 
I leave mine without the parking brake all the time. I've never heard it beep unless I shift it into gear and try to pull away with the parking brake set.

Is this something only the automatic Spyders do?
