• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Spyder vs Georgia State Patrol

Guess he had that ride dialed in, too bad, I don't believe he'll be using it any in the next few days! 🙃
If he got sprung doing anything much more than about 40 kph over the posted speed limit here/in most States of Oz, and he has any other speeding offences already recorded, there's a good chance the Spyder would be confiscated for a few weeks, months, possibly more; or, if he's a repeat 'high speeder', then it could even be confiscated and crushed, no recompense - even if it's not his bike!! There's more than just a few very annoyed parents &/or owners of vehicles here in Oz who are now 'former owners', cos their kids with priors were driving or which were lent to others who had prior offences recorded!! 😖

But you'd really hafta be a bit dim to stay on the wide open freeways and high speed roads to try and out-run a cop car on any Spyder, wouldn't you?? 😣 The dirty great wall of air our Spyders all hafta push outta the way to go truly fast really limits any Spyder's top speed!!

However, if he'd taken to the back streets &/or roads with lotsa turn-offs, buildings &/or landscape that he could get out of sight behind, lotsa of tight corners, alternate routes, and only short straights, ie. heaps of places where the Spyder's greater agility, stability, traction, and braking could really come to the fore and be a massive advantage, he might've had a chance of losing just the one cop car, or a 2-wheeled cop bike for that matter... maybe not so much if the car/bike had air support or a few other vehicles to help keep on his tail and in sight tho. And there's not too many bikes or cars that can out-run the speed of a radio used by a clued-in despatcher, either. 😖

Just sayin', he's clearly not the sharpest... o_O

Georgia law seems to indicate it would be impounded until the owner provided proof that it had been registered and insured.
And paid all the fees, including impounding and storage.

I didn't find anything about crushing it, although I suspect if the owner refused to pay the fees it would eventually be auctioned off.

Never underestimate the power of human stupidity. I must add, high performance driving school in my 911 C4 was nothing like the GSP driver in the video.

Man, that was dramatic! Just glad the guy didn't crash (or anyone else, as far as I could see). But pretty sure the Spyder, and the lead patrol car, are both going to need some alignment work...

Peter, it sounds like you have been chased before .;);)
Laws here in Ontario are similar to yours.
50 kph over and your license is suspended on the spot, your car/bike is towed and impounded for a week.
Then you get to see the judge and see how much the fines are, and how long you can't drive.
Impound yards can charge whatever they want per day.

I've done a bit more 'chasing' than 'being chased' Raven, and I have spent a LOT of time training the 'chasers', but like many who end up in the job/associated fields, I hafta admit that I do know the feeling - after all, we were all young once, weren't we?! :sneaky:

Here in Oz, we don't really have too much in the way of 'impound yards' - on the lower end of the scale, most States tend to use a 'fine & suspend licence' approach, leaving the vehicle in the offender's possession and then relying on monitoring etc; but once that sorta behaviour becomes a repeat thing &/or fast/dangerous enough to be an instant 'loss of licence & tow away' job, it becomes much more of a 'too bad, buddy, you blew it, now you've lost it!' approach. 😖 That's when the vehicle either heads for the crusher &/or an auction where the proceeds go to a 'victims of crime' fund that's used to help those on the victim/survivor end of all sorts of crimes. Not sure it really gets to help those most impacted, or that it makes any real difference to the offenders either, buuut... it happens. 🤨

And once it becomes a 'relying on monitoring' thing &/or 'out-running Motorola', there's a LOT more than just the radio to out-run these days!! Here in Oz, unless you're waaayy out in the sticks (sure, we do have a lot of them, buuut, there's not too much stuff there!! :cautious:) the 'monitoring' bit can be fairly intense & any out-running efforts effectively a hiding to nothing - what with just about every set of traffic lights having cameras &/or speed traps/monitoring of some sort on them; static speed & monitoring cameras; mobile speed & monitoring cameras; disguised/mobile speed & monitoring cameras; just about every mobile Police vehicle having LIDAR or LASER or RADAR or all of them, plus Registration Plate Recognition &/or in some circumstances, Facial Recognition too; Speed & Traffic (& people/phone usage) Monitoring on all major routes & freeways, highways etc as well as many secondary roads; Instant Speed traps; Average 'Speed-over-Distance' traps; Street Crime Monitoring; and all the other 'Big Brother' stuff that's out there, it really isn't all that smart... Sure, there's never enough 'Feet on the Beat' to chase down every offence, but someone behaving like the guy in the subject vid is likely to have a pretty short fling and then spend a lot of time somewhere not all that nice - and even if it's not his vehicle, then unless it was stolen & can be returned to the proper owner, it'll likely be a cube of crushed scrap fairly quickly, so his bosses in any nefarious enterprise will rapidly find that people like that become expensive liabilities!! 😁

Just Sayin' ;)
