• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2025 RT Ltd in need of 1st Service - How much!?!?

My 2025 Spyder RT Limited is in need of it's 1000 mile service. I contacted the place I bought it from and they quoted me 375 + tax. It's just an oil change.

Update: Turns out my first service isn't until 3000 miles. Which by the way the dealership didn't say anything when I made the appointment. This one actually on me as reading is fundamental and I didn't.

Also if you check the manual, the Dealer recommended service intervals include much more than "just and oil change". Most of the checklist items could be done by the owner, but having the dealership do it helps with any potential warranty claims.. Maybe the 1000 mile appt they were making for you was just changing the original oil and filters after your initial break-in (you read that part in the OM pages 123 - 125 right?).
The 1000 mile break-in service includes Oil and filter change, Coolant system inspection (and top off), brake system check (and top off), Drive belt check, lug nut check, rear axle bolt check, switch and gauge checks, body and latches check. Presumably the nuts and bolts part of the checks are done with a torque wrench to factory specs.

welcome to the Spyder world. Nothing is cheap for this toy!! Whatever you can learn to do is in your favor to save money. That price is not unreasonable for what panels have to be taken off and cost of supplies. Depends on dealer, some prices have been around $250

If the dealership actually does all the checks listed in the manuals, then maybe it would be worth the price. If they just push it in the shop, change the filter and the oil cold , and push it back out, then no.

Perhaps one of the moderators could add to the "Do's and Do Nots for New Spyder Owners" Sticky in large, bold type that the first service for the 1330 ACE engine is 3,000 miles.

Good idea, but the original post in that thread is now too large to take anything more, so there won't be any 'adding' to the original post, sorry. :(

However, there's nothing stopping you from adding a new post explaining the milage for the 1330's first service to the end of the Sticky. (y)

We would prefer that any new posts added to the already quite long thread be pertinent things that are important for new owners to know, like the milage requirement you mention tho, not just 'Thanks for this thread' sorta stuff, so if you do add something, try to keep it on topic, or it might just disappear. ;)
