• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Comfort Impossible for a RSS?

Comfort? Here you go..

Hi, I have an 2013 RS-SM5, and what I did to mine (I found the stock position to crouched and cramped for my legs) to increase the comfort level was:

1) I replaced the RS bars with ST bars - they bolt on with no mods other than cutting a couple of wire straps to give the harness more slack;
2) I replaced the seat with a Can-Am Comfort saddle;
3) I replaced the foot pegs with floorboards (big difference - now I can move my feet around and even stand up if I want!); and
4) I replaced the stock shield with a larger "road" shield.

All of this gave me a more upright and spacious riding position and increased my comfort level greatly. All of these mods can be done in your garage if you know what a wrench is for. Oh also, the parts must be for 2013-2014. Parts for earlier models WILL NOT FIT. I found that out the hard way.

I'm new to the Spyder having just bought my first one, a 2014 RS SM5. I'm not enjoying the leaning forward so much and am intrigued by the idea of using RT handlebars. Where did you find yours? And did you use risers with them? You had a lot of great info in your post. I'd like to take advantage of it.

This was so long ago, back in 2015 or so. I bought the bars from CanAm, the rest off of eBay. I've no idea what if any parts are now available. I believe the floorboards and bars are if you look around. Maybe the saddle and shield still are too. At least what I bought will fit the 2014.

Thank you for responding. I've found looking for parts from Can-am only goes back to 2015. I have seen a lot on eBay though. I appreciate the answer.

The RT bars were the basically same from the first RT in 2010 thru 'til the model 'upgrade' about 2018 or '19, so if you can't find any suitable used RT bars from the same year to buy, you can look for any in that entire year/range, and you should also still be able to get them new from BRP (for $$$ tho!) as all the 2015-2018/19 bars are still effectively the same. ;)

Mind you, if you're looking for used &/or take-off bars on eBay or thru wreckers, parts re-cyclers etc, knowing that any 2010 to 2018/19 RT bars fit opens the scope up a little - anything that works on any of those year/models will fit, so maybe you could even find a set of suitable Heli-bars for a lot less than they are normally at new retail $$? :unsure:
