Just sold my Harley and have follow up questions

If both have good service history records, then the rest is more of a personal choice - what color you like? It's at least my understanding that they are just about same machines, only the S2S had a specialized color at one time, not sure what year/s?

The RT Limited is 2 years newer and 7,500 fewer miles for only $1,000 more? Seems like the obvious choice to me.

I agree that having all of the service/maintenance records would also be important.

You might want to check out an F3 Limited while you're at it. The way you sit in a F3 is more going to be like your Harley. Plus, it has more leg room than the RT if you move the pegs up to position #5.

Mileage is not a big deal on the 1330 ACE motor if it was been properly maintained. 10K is just broken in. I have bought three used 2018's with 7500, 8500 and the latest at 4100 miles. All three were/are good machines. I sold the first one last Sept with something like 28K on the clock and the new owner is loving it. The S2Ss gets a color matched top case were the 2020+ RTs get a black one.

That sounds like a great "getting to know you, road trip".

If you choose the RTL, don't worry about the drive. I bought my RTL about 3 1/2 hrs drive away from my house. Didn't even test ride a Spyder before I bought it. When they got it in to the dealer, my wife and I drove to the dealer, the salesman told me about how it worked, I put on my helmet, and away I went. I drove at the speed limit and was on a long curvy road along the side of the Columbia River. There's nothing to worry about riding a Spyder. Keep a loose grip on the handle bar grips or it will feel really twitchy in the steering/handling. Anyway, whichever Spyder you choose, have fun riding it.

The difference between the S2S and the RT-Limited are pretty few (at least on the new ones) - seat with adaptive foam (supposed to be more comfortable, especially for the passenger), back rest, backup camera, top box color matched, and adjustable wind deflectors. Other than that, they are the same.

As for bargaining - my dealer did. I had a pretty good idea of what I was willing to pay and where I could purchase one for that price. The dealer and I came to a reasonable agreement - both of us giving up a bit, and both satisfied with the result. I saved probably about $2K, which I promptly spent on accessories and upgrades. Obviously, YMMV, and it will also depend on how much the dealer needs to cover what he's got into it. Since neither will be under factory warranty, a deciding factor may be if one is under the B.E.S.T. extended warranty. If by any chance the 2023 has any factory warranty remaining, I'd grab that one and immediately search for the best deal you can find on the B.E.S.T. add-on warranty. Other than that, pick the color you like best.

My thoughts about, how much wiggle room do they have on a used machine, is they own that bike cheap and they have plenty of room to work! So, it may cost you some time and a LOT of haggling, but beat them down to where you feel good about the deal, you may have to walk, they don't want the iron on their floor!! Good luck!

A word about the BEST extended warranty- the vast majority of dealers quote a crazy high price, so do shop around before you make the purchase. Be certain to check with Thomas Palmer at iMotorsports in Illinois and the folks at Sierra Cycles in Arizona. As a matter of fact, I would do that today, just so you'll have an idea of the best pricing. Enjoy the shopping and don't be afraid to make a lower offer on the bike, there's most always some wiggle room.
