With heat factor, it was 107°F on my deck today. Bugga!

Back home in the desert, it's 110 degrees and climbing. I have the AC set to keep my house at 90 degrees (or lower). Yesterday, my AC came on 8 different times to keep the temp down to 90! Here in Anacortes, it's 68 degrees, which is the high for today. We experienced some drizzle this morning, but now it is just partly cloudy. There's still a slight chance of more drizzle through the night. Much happier here than I would be in the desert. Stay safe..... Jim

Here in Vermont, it is currently raining. We are currently getting heavy down pours. This morning, it started out quite mild and humid, with temps in the upper 60's and low 70's. The dew point is up in the mid-60's to low 70's. But a cold front this afternoon will help lower the dew point for the evening and tomorrow. That front will also bring more showers and thunderstorms. A few thunderstorms could be on the stronger side, with gusty winds and heavy downpours. Isolated small hail is possible, but not as likely as the strong winds or heavy downpours.

The best chance for storms will be between 12:00 (EST) and 4PM (EST) this afternoon, with stronger storm or two possible in Vermont and New Hampshire. Some scattered showers will linger after 4PM (EST), mostly in the Northern parts of our region, but some breaks of sunshine will be possible this evening. The clouds fully clear late this evening and overnight, leaving us with plenty of sunshine by tomorrow. Temps will be a few degrees warmer in the low to mid 80's, kicking off a warming trend through the middle of this week.

Wednesday will still feature plenty of sunshine and the temp will warm into the mid and upper 80's. Then Thursday stays in the 80's, with a chance of reaching 90 degrees in the valleys. That's also when humid conditions return, with the dew point likely reaching into the mid 60's to low 70's. With these hot and humid conditions, a more unsettled weather pattern will return for the week.

The weather couldn't be better here in Anacortes. Currently: 63 degrees, 4 MPH sea breeze, humidity at 70%, and no clouds in sight. The high today will be 73 and the overnight low will be 56 degrees. Perfect day for some topless cruising. Stay safe..... Jim

First things first, Little Blue, you have been MIA for a couple of days. Hope all is well with you! Yesterday and today, we're seeing filtered sunshine here in N.W. Washington. The smoke from wildfires burning in other parts of the state has migrated to this area. We aren't seeing enough wind to blow it away. Instead, we're experiencing another heat warning. While my immediate area will see a high of 76 today, adjacent inland areas will see temperatures climb into the 90s. That's abnormally hot for this part of the country. Heat advisory again today. Meh.

We're still having heat advisory here in Western Washington. Temperatures are expected to get into the 90's in some places. That's still a lot better than the heat warnings currently in effect back home in the desert (110+ degrees). Currently on Fidalgo Island, it's 64 degrees, humidity at 76%, wind is calm, and we're still having smoke filtered sunshine. The smoke is not quite as thick as it's been the last few days, but it's still noticeable. The high today in Anacortes will be 75 degrees and the overnight low will be in the mid-50's. Just about perfect. Fidalgo Island looks like a peninsula on a map, but it is, indeed, an island connected to the mainland by 2 bridges and Whidbey Island by one bridge. Because we jut out into the sea, the temperatures stay much more moderate than they do inland. Stay safe..... Jim

Triple digits today and worse tomorrow. Extreme heat warning. A lot of smokey haze.

The Widemouth2 fire is still threatening three towns from Fillmore, UT to the South. 100,000 acres and still growing. Evacuation orders being updated today.

Firefighting resources are being stretched to the limit and there's no rain in sight.

Well here in Vermont, we have a few stronger thunderstorms moving through the area this evening, overall, the severe potential is low, but a severe thunderstorm or two is possible. The High pressure centered off the Southeast coast will remain, keeping the tropical, warm, and muggy air mass across Vermont and the North Country through the end of the week. Weak upper-level disturbances tracking over the region will spark daily afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy downpours the main impact. A cooling trend begins next week as the high pressure weakens, bringing lower humidity and additional chances for showers.

Tonight's temp is in the upper 60's. Scattered showers and thunderstorms tapper off this evening with the loss of the daytime heating. Remaining mostly cloudy, warm, and humid overnight, with low temps only dropping into the upper 60's to near 70. The Dewpoint remaining near 70 will make for a sticky night, with patchy valley fog developing late overnight, particularly in the river valleys and areas that receive afternoon rain.

Friday will be sunny, warm, and humid with scattered showers.
Daytime highs in the upper 80's to near 90, with high humidity making it feel like the low 90's.

Friday night time temps in will be in the low 70's. Mostly cloudy, warm, and muggy overnight, with a 40% chance of late-night showers and thunderstorms building into Saturday morning.

Saturday will be unsettled with widespread afternoon storms, Day time highs in the upper 80's, mostly cloudy, with the high humidity continuing. They are forecasting widespread showers and thunderstorms, giving Saturday an 80% chance for rain. Downpours will be heavy at times, bringing a risk of localized runoff issues, especially in the areas with saturated soil.

Night time lows in the upper 60's with a 40% chance of lingering showers and thunderstorms, mainly across Southern Vermont during the evening hours.

Sunday and beyond, the Bermuda high weakens and sinks Southward from Sunday into early next week, allowing cooler Canadian air to bring a cooling trend and lower humidity. Sunday features mostly sunny skies with highs near 85 degrees and only a risk of isolated showers over the Northeast Kingdom. Highs remain in the mid 80's Monday, with partly sunny skies and a chance of an isolated afternoon storm.

A cold front will sweep through late Monday night into Tuesday morning, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms with a 60% of rain.

The smoke filled air is almost gone from Anacortes today. The sky looks blue instead of smoke grey. There is a 2-3 MPH breeze and it's doing enough to keep our air pretty clean. Today's high will be 71 and the overnight low will be 56 degrees. The humidity is 68%. There is no rain in the forecast. Tomorrow morning I'm driving to a yacht club that I've been associated with for nearly 40 years. It's in the heart of Seattle, about 75 miles away. There is a lot of anxiety about going. Driving interstate 5 in western Washington is an experience of defensive patience and trying to ignore idiots while being packed together like canned sardines. The payoff is having a leisurely breakfast at the club with long time (and old) friends that I see all to infrequently. Stay safe..... Jim
