• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How Much Do You Use Wide Open Throttle?

I am the anthesis of a conservative riding style. That stated, it doesn't take WOT to drift around a corner or accelerate from a stop. I typically roll on the throttle as much as the rear tire can handle. Optimum shift point for acceleration is not redline on the tack, but around the peak torque...

Has anyone ever reused TricLED A-Arm lights?

With all things that have the black or gray double-faced tape, the tape will need to be replaced. If the tape doesn't have the fabric scrim, get a start to lifting the tape at one end and gently pull 20-30 degrees above the adhesive plane. The tape is almost always a 3M VHB product and is...

Non-painted gloss black parts - any tricks or finishes to stop them scratching easily

I found a hand rubbing compound (Harley-Davidson Scratch & Swirl Remover) and a good carnubu wax product (also left over from my H-D days) worked to mostly fix the light scratches and put down a slick coat that also served to minimize the remaining very light scratches. Part of the issue is...

What's the best way to get Paint Codes for Spyders/Rykers?

The finished paint. Lots of work getting the lights and other adhesive-mounted reattached. Sure looks good in the sun! Aaron B Smith, BSM Paint Works, Weatherford, TX, shot the paint. I did the tear-down and reassembly. Wayne

Non-painted gloss black parts - any tricks or finishes to stop them scratching easily

As I was reassembling SpyderDeb's '23 F3-L after a full body paint, I noticed that the nacelle around the gauge cluster and front speakers, as well as the covers over the rear speaker covers, are not painted. Rather, they are as-molded plastic: ABS/PC in a high-shine, diamond polished mold will...

    How should I stack/alternate LED strip under-lighting?

I would just go with a system that you can adjust the light colors. XKGlow is one such system that allows: user-selectable colors; changeable patterns for lights; on/off and color; and also allows connection to the bike for turn signal and brake light interconnection. I believe Lamonster Garage...

What's the best way to get Paint Codes for Spyders/Rykers?

The frunk lids on our 2015 and 2018 clearly state "PC+ABS" on the inside of the lids. I haven't found any parts that were straight ABS, as one may find in a automotive interior. I did find found 2 parts that were not marked: they were textured, unpainted parts that looked like ABS/PC when I...

What's the best way to get Paint Codes for Spyders/Rykers?

Only the black is through molded. Other colors in the PC/ABS allow used in the molding will color-shift in the injection molding process, making it hard to match colors between suppliers. On the 5 F3 models we've owned, even the pearl white was painted over black plastic base. The best paint on...

Trying to Remove the Front Turn Signal Light/Position Light - any hints? Ideas?

Well, I got them out. But beware of the instructions; refer to Image 1. The subject states "Replacing a Front Turn Signal Light/Position Light (All Countries except Australia)". The first step is to remove the fender. Check. Step 2 is "Remove the reflector." Beware. That's not the reflector (as...

Trying to Remove the Front Turn Signal Light/Position Light - any hints? Ideas?

Yes, I have BUDS and access to the powersports-diag.com and had downloaded that manual. But I must admit, I feel pretty small right now: I entirely missed that page. Thank you!!! Wayne

Trying to Remove the Front Turn Signal Light/Position Light - any hints? Ideas?

I did a search but couldn't find any info. I also searched the manuals available on powersports-diag.com but couldn't find details on this light. I'm trying to strip down the front fender to have it painted. It's a 2023 F3-L SS with the one-piece fender and an LED "position" light, per the...

What's the best way to get Paint Codes for Spyders/Rykers?

Thanks to all who responded. I called Axalta/Nason, Glen Mills, PA, and was totally impressed by their customer service agent, PJ. He communicated well (English as a first language), he took the time to listen as I explained I was a non-paint-professional, and then made recommendations. Bottom...

Thanks, Mike! That's good to know.

What's the best way to get Paint Codes for Spyders/Rykers?

SpyderDeb wants to have her Spyder painted. A color she likes was on the after-market panels for a Ryker in a Turquoise color. I say was as they were only available in 2019. She worked with her dealer and found the paint codes to be 313C but the painter doesn't recognize that color. Apparently...

    RT 1330 Spark plug changeout. Parts 1 & 2

These were taken out of my 2015 F3-S at about 35K miles. In my opinion, they needed changing.

Are you happy with your aftermarket CAR tires?

All of BRP's responses are to protect the company. Yes, the electronic systems, aka "nanny", are calibrated to the OEM tires and stock wheels. Other combinations may work but BRP has not validated them, nor will they spend the money on doing so. Their disclaimers are based on legal positions...

What's the consensus on Kenda KR 20 rear tires? Better than stock?

We have had Kanines on 2 F3s and will address your question directly: they are vastly better than the OEM Kenda tires. They wear flat across the face and we're still counting miles at 15K and they are in good shape (I don't have a tread depth measurement). They have better traction, wet and dry...

HowTo: Setting the front tire pressures equally each side.

That's well and good to try to be precise. However, if one tire is setting in the sun, guaranteed they will not be at the same pressure as soon as you turn it in the shady side. I'll wager that there isn't a rider on this forum that can tell the difference in 5% in differential pressure...

Shock Absorber Technical Questions - is Damping the same as Rebound? & more!

Adding to PMK's post (but not copying its entirety), I define "spirited riding" as reaching the point of breaking friction with rear tire is a corner (a slight drift is noted), or constantly running into the computer taking control (e.g., the Nanny kicks in). Most riders are seeking less lean in...

What is the seat pan material on 2018 F3's? Anyone know?

Nylon 6/6, polyamide 6/6, is a general purpose, semicrystalline plastic. It has excellent temperature range performance and high chemical resistance. It also has low surface energy, minimizing sliding friction against another object, but also causing low wetability of a liquid on the surface...
