• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    2022 Route 66 Ride

Not especially smooth when I was stationed at McGuire AFB circa 1966-1967!

This area is rich in native American history. Yavapai were active until about 1875.

It is paved, although rough in some areas the last time I went over Oatman Highway.

This satellite map better indicates the type of road. If you enjoy history, read about the Oatman family encounter with the Yavapai (possibly Mojave) tribe.

    2022 Route 66 Ride

From Kingman I40 exit 53 to Crookton I40 exit 139, I have never seen a burro. Probably 100 trips from 2001 to 2021 and maybe 50+ trips 1994-1997. But many burros a few miles before and after Oatman (red map marker), in the surrounding mountains. The Oatman Highway is less traveled than...

Where is a good place to attach a Guardian bell? 2021 RT Ltd

Now, don't start bashing Harley. The V-Rod is an awesome bike. The repair that I remember was because he changed his battery and did not properly reconnect an oil breather hose, so it was blowing some oil.

Where is a good place to attach a Guardian bell? 2021 RT Ltd

Most of my rides are solo, but when I ride with one or two others, the only rider with a gremlin bell is on his V-Rod. That V-Rod is the only one that we've had to stop along the roadside for repairs. I don't think he has one on his Africa Twin. I'll leave the moral of this story to your...

Who is a former Goldwing rider?

This thread took me on a trip down memory lane. The original gold wings from mid to late seventies were naked motorcycles, with point ignitions. I did a tune-up on a clients and had a chance to ride it to check on the effects of timing advance and I think I would buy one if they were still...

    Battery Recommendation?

The best AGM batteries are vacuum filled, as Deka private labeled for Harley-Davidson. Vacuum filling allows the mats to absorb more acid and also better retain that acid. Not all Deka (East Penn Manufacturing) batteries are vacuum filled. East Penn private labels several brands, which may or...

Is the extra 10 HP for the F3 Sport noticeable over the base F3?

If a HP vs RPM graph can be found, I would be very surprised if there is any difference in HP between the 105 HP model and 115 HP model, at or below 6,000 RPMs. Keep in mind that torque peaks at 5,000 RPM.

Is the extra 10 HP for the F3 Sport noticeable over the base F3?

I don't know if there is a difference now, but the F3 was rated 105 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and the F3S was rated 115 horsepower at 7,250 RPM. I doubt there was any noticeable difference at reasonable RPMs.

    2022 Route 66 Ride

In Arizona, Route 66 runs separate from I40 from exit 139 (Crookton), about 5 miles west of Ash Fork, through Seligman, then all the way to Kingman. Seligman is very much a tourist stop. Westside Lilos has good food. Peach Springs (Radiator Springs in the movie "cars") has a restaurant, if the...

Sport vs eco off (normal) - is the throttle limited?

It is comparatively the same as my 2022 Triumph Street Twin 900cc, which has rain mode and normal mode. Rain mode behaves same as eco mode: Reduced drive-by-wire throttle output to throttle body. I tried rain mode only once in past 6 months, it reduces passing ability; especially noticeable...
