• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    UURG new rear tire

You're right, of course, I missed the new front tire at 29,824. Still good mileage and still seems strange that you get better mileage on rears than fronts but facts are facts. Cotton

    UURG new rear tire

That's good mileage, looks like those Dunlops really worked well for you. If my math was right, that was over 16,000 on all the rears and 29,999 on one of the fronts. I've never run a Dunlop but you can bet that I'll be looking at them when I change tires on my F650 BMW. I've had good luck...

    UURG new rear tire

I think you are the first GoldWing rider I ever heard say that they got more miles on a rear than on a front tire but conditions make a tremendous amount of difference in tire wear and I'm not at all surprised that you would get more mileage riding in Idaho than in Texas due, in part, to a lower...

    UURG new rear tire

Depending on conditions, 8500 miles on the stock Kenda tire is not too bad. I got 9500 miles on my original rear tire and 7500 on the second one although it wasn't completely worn out when I changed it. Changed to a Kumho and got over 14,000 on the first one, working on a second. Remember...

    Spyder 1sts (for me)

In my experience, Firstgear is always a good choice. They make excellent gear. Tourmaster is also a very good choice and I have a pair of Fieldshear rain pants that have worked very well also. Cotton

    Helmet Storage

My Shoei Modular will fit in the frunk of my 2010 along with raingear and a quart of oil. It is a small, however. Cotton

2014 RTL PULLING TO THE RIGHT?

Like Bob Denman, my first thought was the crown in the road causing the pull to the right but if it pulls right over the crown of the road from the left hand lane that's out. I would suspect a tire problem. Cotton

IS THE DEALER RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIR?

Sorry, but I have to disagree. I don't think the dealer is always responsible to fix something that breaks even when they follow correct procedures. Let's suppose that I change the oil in my Spyder, pickup, wife's Taurus, whatever. In replacing the drain plug I manage to cross-thread it. I...

IS THE DEALER RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIR?

Most GOOD mechanics work, at least to some degree, on commission. If they took the time to read ALL the service bulletins that come out, they would make more money working at McLunches. Let alone the fact that their bosses would fire them because they were reading instead of working. They...

IS THE DEALER RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIR?

Just my opinion. It doesn't sound to me like the mechanic actually did anything wrong even though it may have been better to drain the radiator by pulling the lower hose off. Mechanics don't always have time to read every service bulletin especially in multi-brand dealerships where there may...

    SE6 or SM6?

For me, it's the SM6 and the main reason is that the SM6 does not have floorboards. A lot of people like floorboards but they are not comfortable for me. I test rode an SE5 way back and liked the transmission just fine. I could live with either transmission but I can't live with floorboards...

Returned the test 2014 RT today, so back to being a cager

Thanks for a really great report on the 2014 under everyday conditions. I'm a little disappointed that your out of fuel range test was only 208 miles. Like you, I would have hoped for more but it's still an improvement over the earlier RT's. Nice to know that there is less heat even though...

    Help with floorboards ,please

Just a suggestion - may or may not help. Along with the lube you might try some clamps. Most of us don't have a hydraulic press but regular old "C" clamps with a couple of boards to act as cauls can generate a fair amount of pressure. If the boards can be removed fairly easily, a vice might...

Demo ride on 2014 RT Limited

Glad you enjoyed the test ride. Believe me, it's every bit as much fun as you think it will be and then some. Cotton

    RT rear tire

That's the craziest thing I ever heard of. I would have told them that I planned to fill it up with dirt and plant potatoes in it. I bought mine at a local small town tire dealer who managed to modify and manipulate his tire machine to get it mounted on the Spyder wheel which I removed and...

    buffeting by wind

Hey, bassman, it took me more than 1,000 miles to really get used to riding the Spyder. It reacts so much differently than a 2-wheeler that the more 2 wheel experience you have sometimes makes it even harder to get used to it. I had test ridden a couple of different Spyders but the wind wasn't...

    2010 RT-S shock upgrade

My 2010 RT had much more body roll than I was happy with but I didn't have the money readily available to go to Elka or Works Performance shocks. When the 2011's came out with better performing shocks and particularly after Scotty reported that his 2011 handled much better than his 2010, I...

    Stranded on hwy transmission out

There's an old Texas saying; "Some folks would gripe if you hung them with a new rope." Seems to me like some of that's going on here. I'd like to point out 3 things about this situation that it seems like we are mostly ignoring. 1) BRP stepped up to the plate and fixed the problem. I rode...
