• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    PICKLEHAED

Hope you get well real soon, Picklehead. That sure would be a bummer to happen on a trip.:pray: Cotton

    Wahoo I made it!!

Great to hear that you made it safe and sound. You've earned a good rest. Have fun and enjoy Spyderfest. Cotton

Which handles better, Spyder or bike?

This is a question that's almost impossible to answer because it is so dependent on the rider. A Spyder should be quicker through the corners than most cruisers simply because the low ground clearance of the cruiser limits the lean angle which limits cornering speed. But a really good rider...

    DESPERATE - RT Wont Start

:agree: This would at least be a good starting place. Cotton

    Kumho tire pressure ?

I'm on the second Kumho Ecsta on the back of my 2010 RT. Got over 17,000 miles on the first Kumho as opposed to 7,500 on the first OEM Kenda. Since the Kumho is an automotive tire with a different construction than a motorcycle tire, I run 32 PSI instead of the recommended pressure for the OEM...

Giving the RT a Good Wash

Nothing to add about cleaning the RT. Personally, I love dirty motorcycles and I only wash mine when the wife says she won't ride anymore unless I do. But I do want to comment on my experience with ArmorAll on seats. I've used it on my dirt bikes for years. In my experience if you put a heavy...

    An open letter to BRP

The only manufacturer that's ever called me on the phone is BRP, and that was to answer a question I asked before I even bought a Spyder. I haven't ridden a Victory but after a lot of years riding BMW's, Yamahas, Hondas and other brands, BRP has been more concerned about my problems than all...

    FYI on 2013 alignment procedures

Thanks for the explanation, Lamont, it clears up some of the questions about the 2013's and problems some folks are having with them. I have to believe that a really competent dealer with trained and experienced mechanics should be able to solve most, maybe all, of the problems that have been...

    Long Distance Riding

Hi jenmom, nice to see you on the forum again. Lots of good advice about various seats and pads. Personally, I think stopping and resting for just a bit fairly often is the key to riding a long way in reasonable comfort. One nice thing about the Spyder's limited range is that it makes you...

    Lucky Me.

:agree: The service department at my dealer generally does a very good job but they almost always fail to get the "hooks" on those panels fastened properly. I lost the right side panel on my 2010 RT with less than 100 miles on it. Since they had just put it together, the dealership assumed...

    Tough decision on trailers etc.

We are able to carry enough "stuff" in the RT for a week or so without having to go to a laundry but that doesn't include a CPAP unit. It does include some pretty tight packing but, if possible, I'd rather ride than trailer the RT. We're both in our 70's but, thank the Lord and I realize that...

    Broken key in ignition...

If you can turn the lock with the top part of the key (or any other way), you can start the Spyder as long as the part of the key with the chip is very close to the lock. Once the spyder is started you can put the chip in your pocket. The chip is necessary to start the spyder but not for it to...

OUR SPYDER WAS DESTROYED THIS WEEK

Does anybody have an RT (not RT-S or Limited)?

We have a 2010 base RT - no S, no Limited, no A&C. The only thing I've added is Alaska Leathers sheepskin seat pads, 2011 RT shocks, and a BajaRon sway bar. I would have added all that to any 2010 RT. I don't listen to music when I'm riding, if I did I'd add an MP3 player to my Scala...

    Lifting an RT

Both times that I had mine off, the sprocket was tight coming off and tight going back on. When I say I used a rubber hammer to force it into place, I mean I tapped the sprocket lightly with a light rubber hammer, then closed the maybe 1/8 inch gap by snugging the axle nut. Between the times...

    Lifting an RT

Yes! At least mine did. Forgot to say - I used a light rubber hammer to force the sprocket fairly close so there would be no issue with everything slipping into place before the axle was snugged. Cotton

    Lifting an RT

I've replaced my rear tire twice and used a standard automotive type floor jack placed as far to the rear of the frame as possible. I didn't have to have anything holding the front wheels down. I have a Harbor Freight ATV lift but it doesn't work very well for this job. To begin with, as...
