• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Very high pitch whine after shut down

This was taken from another post and may deal with the issue you are encountering. This note was sent to the dealers by BRP: "When prepping 2011 Spyder RT models, you may notice a faint "humming" or "buzzing" noise coming from the area under the center glove box after the key is turned off...

    Inexpensive Com Unit

Sena Bluetooth I recommend that you shy away from inexpensive intercoms. What you pay for is indeed what you will get when you are talking helmet intercoms. Sound quality and ease of use are two important things that are worth paying a bit extra for. Trust me, I have been down the road with...

Had a few problems today. Any ideas on fixes?

Last week I hooked up the trailer and had only my brake lights. No running or signal lights. The F7 fuse was blown and I could not replace the fuse without it blowing again. I took it to the dealer yesterday and the first thing we did was disconnect the trailer harness. This fixed the blown fuse...

    Sheepskin seat covers

DIY Sheepskin Seat cover I have used IKEA sheepskin covers on my last three bikes (RS Venture, Goldwing GL1800 & Spyder RT) Great comfort feature on those hot summer days. The Rens Sheepskin can be purchased at Ikea U.S. for approximately $30.00. (Add $10.00 more in Canada) It actually fits the...

Latch and trunk light not working!!!

Both items are tied into the F8 fuse, which also regulates, through the load shedding relay : suspension relay, heated grips, front storage compartment light, storage cover actuator, switches illumination and fog lights. Take a look at your F8 fuse and R5 relay. Just a thought.

Help - Need trailer harness routing instructions

Thanks everyone for getting me some much needed info. Spyderbirds scan of the full documentation came in about 11 p.m. last night and I will take this with me to the dealer today in an effort to "negotiate" the fix for my shorted trailer module. We will just have to wait and see if they take...

    take off shocks

I was wondering where all of those take off shocks from Elka installations at Spyderfest were going to end up. Glad these were recycled to other Spyder Ryders rather than filling a landfill site.

Help - Need trailer harness routing instructions

Does anyone have the "official" BRP instructions for the installation of the trailer harness on the Spyder RT? I have an appointment with my dealer on Wednesday, May 22nd , to fix the wiring harness that they routed inside the rear fender. The tire rubbed through the cable and shorted out the...

    ? about brake pin recall

Contacted Lockharts even before they had received a notice from BRP. They contacted BRP the next morning and received confirmation of the recall. Rather than drive 4 hours there and back to get the pins, I asked them to send me the replacement pins in the mail. Received within three days of the...

Had a few problems today. Any ideas on fixes?

My trailer brake lights still work with a blown F7 fuse, even though I have no running lights or signal lights on the trailer. I definitely have a short in my trailer harness wires because I can see the bare wires that the rear tire caused.

Had a few problems today. Any ideas on fixes?

Sounds very much like you have a blown fuse (F7 - front trunk) This corresponds to the Reverse Actuator and Trailer Module.

    Southern Ontario dealers

I have yet to hear anything but good things about any of the dealers in Ontario. Given your location, you might want to pay special attention to the dealer in Guelph. Having a reliable dealer close by is worth something. There are only a few of us Ontario ryders here on Spyderlovers so you...

    Trailer harness wiring route

Thanks everyone for confirming my suspicion that the harness was routed incorrectly. I sent a message to the dealer asking them to check their installation instruction for this harness and to tell me if I should go after BRP directly for issuing improper mounting instructions to their dealers. I...

    Replacing guages

Purchased my gauges from egauges.com The Cyberdyne gauges are very inexpensive and it looks like egauges is discontinuing selling this product. Chatter on the Internet indicates that Cyberdyne quality for these units is questionable. I have not had any issues with my units (voltmeter & air...

    Replacing guages

I stand corrected. I did not know that both analog gauges had to be connected for either of the analog gauges to work. Makes me wonder what would happen if one of the gauges malfunctioned....would the other analog gauge quit working as well?

    Trailer harness wiring route

My dealer installed my trailer wiring harness two years ago on my RT. They routed the harness on the underside of the rear fender, wrapped in plastic conduit. Unfortunately the rear tire has worn through the conduit and exposed some of the harness wires. Ergo, now I have a short of some type...

    Replacing guages

You must disconnect both gauges for the digital fuel bars to appear on your dash screen. If you just disconnect the fuel gauge you will not have any info on the amount of fuel remaining in your tank. However, if you do not need fuel data then disconnecting the single gauge and replacing it with...
