• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Front Sprocket Failure

Most Spyder buyers do not log 20,000 miles within the 2 year Factory Waurentee time, so they won’t see the Sprocket failure until the Waurentee expires. Plus, those owners rarely buy the BEST extented Waurentee because they are not high mileage riders. So BRP not having a Recall to replace...

Now U know how it’s done

Accident I can’t figure out how to post a new post, so will post it here to share on this Off Topic tread. I was on my Spyder when it happened today. “I happened to be in the right place at the right time!! I took a cruise on my Spyder today, and came around a corner on a narrow country...

    Front Sprocket Failure

WOW! That Spyder is going to be down and out of service for unknown months. Plus, the Dealer’s Certified Tech will need to be real experienced in splitting cases and doing such repairs. If its under Waurentee, too bad the engine couldn’t be shipped back to the factory for repair. I sure hope my...

    Tires General Altimax Opservation

Credentials Hi Mike,....I was going to let this go, but just woke up needing to take a Whiz which reminded me of the Pressure on my bladder while laying on my belley, which reminded me of our pissing contests about tire pressures. . So, after taking care of business, I decided to contribute a...

    Tires General Altimax Opservation

BK, you might be a real nice Guy, in person, but you glow like a Light as the Spyderlovers.com Forum Bully. Why? Do you get pickd on by people on the streets in your neighborhood and retaliate by challenging Forum members who just like to share Spyder experiences? As for Tire pressures, and...

    Tires General Altimax Opservation

I need to chime in, for the record. I also, am one who tried the soft VS. The Higher inflations, on both fronts and rears. On my 2012 RT, the original 13 psi BRP recommendation in the front Kendras were so squishy, it felt like I was rinning with flat tires on the corners. The 28 psi in the rear...

    Rear Tire Wear

That tire to me has at least another 2000 miles left on it, the way I ride, one up, at 180 lbs. in spite of all of the “ expert” Tire inflation infirmation posted on these tire threads. I have stayed with 30 PSI in the rear, and 20 PSI in the fronts, regardless of Tire Brands. My fronts on my...

    Front Sprocket Failure

Yes, it was sad, but the Dealer was already 6 weeks out in service Bookings when I dropped it off because the whining and grinding noise was so bad, I thought I had problems in either the Clutch or Tranny. The Dealer first thought they would have to remove the engine, but eventually found the...

    Front Sprocket Failure

My 2016 RT Limited Sprocket failed at 21,500 miles. Just got it back from the Shop a week ago. It was there 2 months before the Dealer repaired it under Waurentee. I lost most of my Summer on the Spyder, but I bought a Harley Heritage to ride diring the uncertain down time. Always wanted a...

2017 Semi Auto Transmission Noise / Whine

Looking at this Sprocket photo, notice the 6 holes in the Sproket. I always heard a little Whining, coming from that area, way before the failure. I wonder if the High RPMs of the Sprocket turning on the engine shaft might by making the Whistle sound thru the 6 Air holes while rotating!

OK... it's question and answer time

I had a 2012 RT Limited I bought new, kept it for 5 years, and put 55,400 miles on it. I must have had that DPS orange dash light go on at least 50 times, during the time i had it. Every time I took it back to the Dealer, they just reset the Computer Codes and sent me off. But it always came...

    Sproket issue wrongly diagnosed

I am still confused if the “Pulley” that has the bad splines is the Sproket? If the Pully is bad, why is the Sproket changed, if its not the same Part? I just got my 2016 RT Limited back after being in the Shop 2 months, and the Work Order Invoice also described the Pulley stuck to the engine...

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

Update as of Aug. 8, 2018. As noted, I got my Spyder back yesterday. It would not start this morning. Lights came on, Fuel Pump, etc. but would not even click. I put my Battery Charger on it, and after charging 10 minutes, the “ Bad Battery” Red Indicater Light came on in my Battery Charger...

    Spyder longevity?

There are high mileage Spyders out there, but they are expensive to maintain. At 70 years old, I was getting a little shakey riding my 2002 Vulcan 1500 Classic I had been riding for 10 years, so I bought a new 2012 RT Limited Jan. 2012, and put 55,400 miles on it in 5 years. I had the usual...

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

Sprocket problem update I got my Spyder back today. The Grinding and whining sound is gone. It has been repaired under Waurentee. Sproket,Spline Question?

I have been using Mobil One Full Synthetic Motor cycle Raciing Oil since the first 3000 mile Service. I run 10,000 miles between Oil and Filter changes. I have a 2016 RT Linited. As for the Sprocket, I recommend not touching it while under Waurentee, but you will need to find a reliable Dealer...

17,000 Miles and the front pulley is history!

If red dust is appearing on the Sprocket, it must be either rust or copper. It most likely is not rust, so if it is copper, it appears the Sprocket Gear is manufactured from a soft sintered metal alloy, i.e. Zinc, Copper and possibly Nickel. it is a porous and soft cast metal, but cheap to...
