• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Drive belt tension and belt alignment

anti and bloody Ann, I am in fact transplanted to Georgia, from the next state to our west. I took notes on the Australian video that Brian mentioned earlier, and that "bloke" used the word anti. I am a counter clockwise and counter steer person, but looking at my notes, I used anti. Brian...

Drive belt tension and belt alignment

I got a plan Early tomorrow morning, I'll do the right adjuster 1/4 clockwise, 1/8 anti for the left and see what that looks like. Thanks, it's good to know the changes should be negligible. -Bill

Drive belt tension and belt alignment

Brian, I remember looking at your separation a few weeks ago, and it looked great then. We don't have a 36mm wrench, and we tried a 36mm socket but there's not enough space on the right side for the socket. I went to Home Depot late this afternoon and their largest in store was 32mm, so I...

Thanks mate I've watched that one several times, and sent a link to my son. Just got it on URL version of speed dial. Guess that's called a shortcut, eh?

Drive belt tension and belt alignment

Right side adjustment only Thanks, Mike, I'll try right side only 1/4 turn and leave the left side alone for now. I recall you previously recommended reducing vibration by simply reducing tension. -Bill

Drive belt tension and belt alignment

Thanks, Doc I has planned to reduce the tension in accordance with the TST recommending a tension of 119.144# to 164.104#, but I guess I might leave it alone for now. Bill

    2014 RT-S Battery Replacement

Just like my battery Brian, my battery also sounds weak, but I decided that's just the way it is. I'll watch this thread. Let's compare our cranking sounds next time we're together. A battery on my GL1500 failed at a very inopportune time, so I got a new battery for my GL1800 at about 4 years...

Drive belt tension and belt alignment

My 2014 RTS was laser aligned before delivery, and tracks great. The belt tension is about 180# with the tire off the ground, and the belt is actually snug against the flange. My objective: 1) move the belt about a credit card width off the flange; 2) reduce the belt tension to about 142#...

Rear Tire - What is the Best Option

Ann, I agree with your comment about the Kumho on wet roads. I rode in thunderstorms with very heavy rain yesterday and got many VSS alerts. Some were in standing water - no surprise. I was pretty cautious as were the cars on the road. The speed limits were 55, 65, and 70, but no one was going...

Ride Report ~ One If by Land Two If by Sea ~ Boston, Lexington and Concord

Great Pictures To get all those stamps, great pictures, plus the fascinating history in only 120 miles is incredible. We kind of focus on civil war NPS sites here in the south, but have 3 revolutionary war sites over in South Carolina. I didn't pay much attention to history in high school and...

Original warranty transferrable to a second owner?

Warranty transferred for me My 2014 RTS was originally sold at a Hendersonville, NC dealer in Sept 2014 and I purchased it a year later. I had the Marietta dealer transfer the warranty at no charge to me but I don't remember what paperwork I provided. The original 2 year warranty was...

Rear Tire - What is the Best Option

Kumho now - next will be General Altimax Brian, I replaced the OEM rear tire at 5,392 miles. The Kumho has 7,929 miles on it and the remaining tread depth is 5/32. I got lots of great recommendations for the General Altimax but decided to use the Kumho since I had used 2 of them on a GL1800...

How to Use BaseCamp an Instructional Guide

Thanks for the BaseCamp link Thanks for the link, Willie. I downloaded the PDF and will go through it. I've used BaseCamp for several years and am kind of OK with the things I am capable of doing. I always used MapSource but it quit working on my computer. I got a lot of help from Garmin...
