• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

My sister and brother-in-law live in Alabama,Opelika. I'm not a sports enthusiast,I like to participate but not watch, so please forgive my ignorance. He's a big "Chrimson Tide" fan, is that the same team?

    officially bummed

We used to ship a lot of bikes to Japan in the early 90s before their economy went south. All the fluids had to be drained and the battery had to be disconnected, maybe even removed. We got a call one day just as a shipment was getting ready to be loaded in a container and someone found a...

    No previous motorcycle experience.....

The riders course here is on a big parking lot on the U of I campus. There's plenty of room to set up a course here. I imagine some areas may have limited area, but that's not the case here. I imagine they could even set a course up from the DVD that BRP supplies. I'm not sure how it is...

LED Digital Volt Meter for bikes

The service manual states that the mag is supposed to be capable of producing 50amps...that's 600 watts. Some of my old muscle cars have the same output and run a lot more lights/accessories. Could there be a problem in the charging curve of the regulator/rectifier?? It seems like it. Since...

    VERY MAD..and an empty trailer!!!

I think under the circumstances that they should deliver free of charge. A 200 mile trip that THEY said you should do to pick it up and then not to have ops checked it is ridiculous for sure. I guess I'm a little bit of a pr**k about that stuff. I'd demand that they deliver it, or reimburse me...

    Interesting Tidbit

WHAT kind of HP is it. There are about 4 different international ways of HP rating. If it is Canadian, it is likely different than U.S. rating system and could account for the 5hp difference. I'll post later, from one of the Jap shop manuals ,a couple different ones so you can see how much they...

Does Your Own Spyder Maintenance Void BRP Warranty??

The bike companies seemed to have a sliding scale, they never asked for service records and depending on the model, and what they envisioned as it's lifespan, they would jump through hoops or ...not. I rebuilt a VT500 the very first year they were produced, under warranty, it had rod bearings...

    First Grandchild

Congratulations, is it your first?? I've got 6,3 daughters with 2 each. Fortunately there are a couple of gearheads in the bunch, so they like to come out and see grandpa's toys. They'll be out around christmas and will get their first Spyder ride if the weather doesn't get crappy, fortunately...

My Next Mod - Juice Box or Performance Sway Bar

The post is a little fuzzy for me...Did you install the juicebox first or the Hindle and air filter? You say the juice box,but then say to be sure and get... Did you install the juicebox and feel those were needed?? You seemed to indicate that it made a big difference in a stock bike... Could...

    No previous motorcycle experience.....

I'll check with some of my friends that teach MSF courses and see if they might influence that. If the numbers grow it would seem a natural addition. Probably have to have a separate day/course,though.

Does Your Own Spyder Maintenance Void BRP Warranty??

I don't recall it ever being an issue with any of the bikes who's company I worked for. As you state, you service your own bike currently. I would check with the company, but would have to believe that type strategy could border on "unfair business practices" or similar law in the U.S. I've been...

    Blinder LaserJammer

It is supposedly the same here. Although I have never been clocked on a bike( I have hit 150 on the Interstate late at night...2a.m.,Suzi GSXR 750), I think most sportbikes have such a small profile with very few flat surfaces they are not as easy to clock. Although jammers are illegal in many...

V-Twin Oil Leak Issue or expected behaviour?

I'd have to agree.,..waaaay too much oil loss, especially in a 1000 miles. I can't speak for the Spyder's V twin but I can speak with some knowledge of a Harley ( I owned an Indian, real one not a Harley clone) since I've worked on many. The leaking issues on them vary by model, many early ones...

    Found my leak

I'm glad that's all it was. When I saw the thread title I was afraid it was the fuel leak that seems to be getting some notice. That leak is messy, but not as flammable.

    Bearing loose in rear hub

Honda had a bunch of this type of issue with the 1200 and 1500 'wings. They warranteed thousands( likely much more) because the aluminum was too soft for the loads people were putting on the bikes. I'm wondering if that may be what is developing with yours. I believe you tow a trailer, that...

    Transportation costs?

I know at the dealerships I worked ( all the jap, spanish/Italian and a British, very long ago). The dealer pays a delivered cost. I have been away from the dealers for about 10 years, but that allowed them to trade amongst themselves for bikes they needed with ones that another dealer needed...

    Blinder LaserJammer

That is indeed true. I am making reference to the officer that parks his car in a closed gas station and uses it for his base of operations to catch speeders...or any number of other "private" areas. We have a local sheriff that regularly parks in the cemetary and runs speed checks. I don't...

    Spyder Resell Question

For me and others that do their own work that would be an excellent suggestion. Unfortunately many don't. That would require them to pay someone to do it and then you get a declining return. In that case, I'd say you'd be better of taking any hit than spending labor $$ for a possible return...

I believe in safe riding, but regard most speed limits as a revenue enhancer. I am talking open road and not residential area. I want to point out, for those that don't know... Police cannot set up speed traps on private property without prior written permission of the owner. According to the...
