• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What size is the evap vent hose?

It is very, very important to have the long hose, but there is more to the modification than the hose. BRP reprograms the ECM to provide more frequent opening of the purge valve. Your dealer will do this for you and install the longer hose - free. Many have done a canisterectomy which solves...

I'm like a kid on Xmas eve

Congratulations! This is a decision you will not regret. I started with a 2008 Spyder on February 17, 2008 and now I am on my third Spyder, a 2011 RT. I am loving every minuet of it. Spyderlovers will help you to enjoy your new fun machine. I strongly recommend you make sure all of the recall...

THE STUPIDEST, DUMBEST THING ANYONE HAS EVER DONE....AND I DID IT

Sorry, you are too late. I made exactly the same mistake more than one year ago. I was diagnosing a problem on my way home one night. I removed the main relay and didn't replace it correctly. I didn't know this. I rode home 130 miles with no instrument cluster (no speedometer, no odometer, no...

Does your dealer know about the new oil filter & panel replacement yet?

I have had two oil changes with the new filter. The dealer was allowed to send his supply of the old filters back to BRP. I also have the new panel installed. Looks the same from the outside.

    how many bars?

I have a manual fan switch on both of my Spyders. When I am approaching a traffic jam, or slow in-town traffic, I turn the fan on to get a head start on cooling. This helps, but it also gives me some psychological comfort (most important part). My RT cools better than my GS/RS, but neither one...

    F i r e !

Not a Problem Spyder fires are not a problem. As far as we can tell from what has been reported on Spyderlovers, there have been no RT fires, and the GS fires have been on 2008 models that did not have the evaporative canister modification. If you have a 2008 Spyder, make sure there is a long...

Question on New Oil Filter Access Body Panel

I had the new panel installed today along with an oil change - panel is totally free. Standing next to the Spyder, I cannot tell the difference.

Looking forward to my first road trip on my Spyder

Please make sure your Spyder has had all of the service updates applicable to the 2008 GS. Do not assume the previous owner did this. Some of these updates are important for your safety. Good luck with your first long distance ride. I love cross-country riding.

    Ease my fears

You are getting some very good advice in this thread. I can only add that you definitely are not too old. I am 75+ (not the oldest on spyderlovers.com) and I am on my third Spyder. I ride close to 50,000 miles per year. You will be fine.

I sent you a private message on this subject. See your "notifications".

    Oil level, what the heck!

A rough rule of thumb is that the distance between the bottom of the dip stick and the full mark is about 1/2 quart. If the oil level is at the bottom of the dip stick when the engine is cold, it will be 1/2 of the way to the full mark when the engine is hot.

How to deal with the heat???

When the ambient temperature is over 98.6 degrees (your body's core temperature), you do not want more air, you want less air. More air does not cool you down, it heats you up.

    Let the Mods begin.......

If you find LED headlights for the RT, let us know. I would really like to have these. Harley-Davidson has great LED headlights as an accessory. I wish BRP, or someone else, would offer these.

    SpyderPops

Harvey has done it again. He has created a mod for my RT that makes my life better. A couple of years ago, Harvey created a mod for my GS/RS that redirected more ram air to the radiator which improved cooling efficiency. I was impressed with this, but then I didn't pay attention to what Harvey...

    Durango and Spyder reliability.

My round trip was 4,900 miles including a side trip to the Denver area. I was away from home for 16 days. My instrument cluster began to fail on the second day out. It was replaced by BRP in Durango. The BRP guys were very responsive. Other than the instrument cluster, the RT was great. It...

InspectorGadget, a spyderlovers.com member, does this mod for $80. This worked out very well for me. www.spyderrt.info

    Corbin seat?????

I agree it takes 2,000 miles for the Corbin to break in your butt. I have had about 18 Corbin seats. After the first one, they seemed perfectly normal. You only have to go through the butt break in experience once. My 2011 RT is the first new motorcycle I have had in a very long time that does...
