• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Motorcycle?

"Yes" on all counts. Spyder is safer, but still not 100% safe (ATGATT); "Carving" turns is fun, but adds risk; Spyder is fun in a different way; and yes I also have a 2-wheeler (R1150GS). :2thumbs:

    NHTSA COMPLAINTS

The number of NHTSA reports is obviously skewed. I'm pretty sure it only contains a few of the incidents where people actually experienced steering failure. Most are unreported, I suspect. There is also a boatload of people who didn't get the lock-up, but have had to replace the DPS unit...

thought I was dodging the DPS bullet

I never had any problems before I took it in for the "recall", so since it didn't present a safety issue to me personally, I'm not sure reporting to NHTSA would apply. Probably more of a product quality issue than safety (at least as far as my situation is concerned). Hoping I was going to...

thought I was dodging the DPS bullet

Wrong! Spyder was running great, but hit the 12,000 mark and approaching the 24 month mfg. warranty time; and I had not had either the recall or update to the recall done. So I bit the bullet and took it in for the 12K service and recall. 4 weeks later (but that's another story:cus:), they...

    Best 4-inch risers

yes, it is. However you can dry-fit them together before you cut to get an idea what they will be like... and change your mind. (but you won't!). Either company (ESI or Kewlmetal) is great. Kewlmetal does have a new version out that seem to be more adjustable, and the video on their site...

    Fuel guage acting up.

Last summer on a road trip in CO, mine was acting up. Wouldn't register more than a few bars, despite being full. I stopped in at a Co. Springs dealer. He pulled the cluster cleaned/reseated and called back to BRP. Still wouldn't register, so I just kept track of mileage and crossed my...

Parking Brake - How Many Clicks?

I'm sure mine doesn't... but fortunately, 1st gear seems to hold it in place!:gaah:

    Goodbye and thank you . . . .

Kind'a did the same thing... but keeping the Spyder. Just picked up an R1150GS for the 2-wheel fix, but love the Spydee, too! (It's all about the toys!:ohyea:)

    Auxillary Fuel Tank Installed!

150 if you encounter nothing but flat land, with a tailwind, don't exceed 55 and fill up before the fumes become a necessity. I just got back from a 700 mile trip across Az, New Mexico, and into Tx. At a constant 80 mph I got maybe 26mpg. Drop it to 70 and get about 30. At 60 (come on...

    Air scoops

I did the same thing with stainless marine vents planning on the same use... but I had previously run a 3" duct to the front fog light opening for an air intake... now the vents only push a little more air from both sides. Haven't had the urgency to re-route the right side one.

    Owners without problems - Rollcall

'08 PE792 acquired new in 2/08. Just shy of 12,000 miles and no problems at all. (Neither of the updates have been done)

    RPM below 55 mph?

generally, when putting around town in traffic (speeds 35-50), I try to keep the revs up around 4K, if they drop below 3500, downshift.

    Power Steering Fuses

May not be that bad... remember initially, quite a few folks went months and months without DPS and didn't know it! But then I haven't had either update done and probably won't. ("...if it ain't broke...") unless I have a problem.

Any suggestions on a cool looking solo Seat?

Might check with a local upholstry shop that does cycle seats. I found one that reshaped it, moved the "ridge" back, changed the slope so I wasn't sliding forward; raised the passenger portion; recovered in two tone premium vinyl for about $250. Plus they were done in 4 hours.

    Pelican cases..

By the way, in the for sale section, there's a rack/fuel cell mod for sale (using a Pelican top case) fabbed by Stuart O. I built one similar for mine, but used a slightly different mounting system and a Tour Tank. It does cover the passenger saddle though, if that's an issue.

    Pelican cases..

I think an adapter would work, but Ind 7 seems to be the only option for PL type side racks. I've searched everywhere, even written to SW and GIVI. They both responded and said they had no plans to offer PL racks for Spyder. It just irks me why the Ind 7 rack is $400 and Givi and BRP PLX racks...

    Cold Air Intake 2.0

Hard to say since it's too freakin' hot to ride during the day around here anyway. Early evening/morning with ambient temps around 90, I run 4 bars most of the time, creeping up to 5 at stoplights and stop 'n go traffic. Drop another bar across the board when it gets down to 80 ambient...

    Cold Air Intake 2.0

I did the marine cowl vents with the idea of using one for intake and one for air flow, but now have both of them just dumping air under the tupperware. The air intake is routed to the fog light opening. :2thumbs: on your mod... very slick.
