• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sounds like a plan! Why not Newfoundland, too? :hun: For those that have the time, Newfoundland is great. Anyone who can should extend their trip and go there. Ferry from the eastern end of Nova Scotia. Been there twice on motorcycle, need to get back again, soon. I'll remind you on the...

    Gap Insurance?

That's what I did when I got my new 2014. I usually would not consider the extra cost, preferring to self-insure for the depreciation. But with the rapid first-year depreciation on the Spyder, I figured I would go for it and got "total loss" coverage from Progressive for both collision and...

    Went to Mobile 1

Just as another point of reference, I had 8100 miles on my 2011 RT during an Alaska trip. Amsoil 10-40 and it came back from the lab in the high 30's for viscosity -- 12.06 cSt@100C. TBN was good, too, at 6.1.

    Went to Mobile 1

Good Stuff I used Mobil 1 a lot in my 100K Gold Wing and my V-Strom. Always liked it. Would have used it in my 2011 RT if it had a JASO MA-2 rating instead of MA-1. Since the v-twins occasionally had clutch slipping problems. Maybe for the 1330's it will be just fine. I had been using...

Interesting. The 80 load rating is certainly a new tire, not the 68 of the previous version. But Lamont just got his and said they just became available. I talked with Vee's tech people and they said the same thing. They were not aware of any pre-production versions that were made available...

I assume one of the new 35004's with the higher load rating. That'll be a great back-to-back comparison with the S-Drive on the Alaska trip, although I guess all that was with a trailer. She'll have more miles on that new tire even quicker than Lamont! Waiting to hear what she thinks of it.

    Rear caliper question

The tire sidewall says the load ratings are at the: "Recommendation pressure 25 psi min 30 psi max (min 25 psi)". That pretty much sums it up. Vee is recommending the standard pressure range (26-30 psi). I had asked Vee's tech people for a recommendation and they confirmed that saying...

    2015 Side Case Strengthener Kit

Shims Arrived The shims arrived. I tried just holding them in place and as luck would have it, it seems one is not enough and two are too many. Two of them are too thick, leaving the new plate resting totally on the shims. Just putting one shim in there left the new plate resting totally on...

    Rear caliper question

Did you put the new, just-released Vee on the back? Vee Part Number 35004? The older tires Vee makes are part number 35002. The load rating on 35004 is 80H which is good for the RT's. BRP spec's 76H. However, the 35002 has a load rating of 68H which is good for the RS's but not the RT's...

ISCI Handbrake Installed on 2015 RT Special

Sounds like a good dealer to avoid. Those two "security" torx are not, repeat not, to be removed. They simply push in and out of rubber grommets underneath. Difficult but that is what they do. They are push pins. One is straight, one is curved in a certain direction. When all the other...

    Blasted Torx!?#!

Yes, as stated above, there is a doughnut type gasket between cat and muffler. It is usually stuck on pretty good but in perfect shape. If you can get it off without damage, you're good to go. If you need an exhaust gasket, they list for $19. There is only one spring in spite of fittings for...

    2015 Side Case Strengthener Kit

Just to let you know, they didn't make it here today, Saturday. Just came home from about 260mi on the RT, late afternoon mail was here but no shims. Thought they would be so I could work on it tomorrow. Late afternoon Monday delivery will be a Tuesday project. In case you were wondering...

Love Bozeman. Hope you ate at the Garage on the main street downtown. An old, old gas station converted to a restaurant (would you believe it) where you sit outside and enjoy the best burgers ever.

    Nova Scotia trip

You would ask. I just looked it up. It sank in 2012 during Hurricane Sandy. Was enroute from New London, CT down to Florida. Most of the crew was rescued but the captain and one crew member died. That crew member Claudine Christian was, or claimed to be, a descendant of Fletcher...

    Nova Scotia trip

One final piece of unsolicited comment. I'm sure many have told you to be sure to do the Cabot Trail in eastern Nova Scotia, in the Cape Breton Highlands area. I would certainly agree. It takes a while to get there. As I recall, the roads get pretty jammed up in the center of the island and...

    Nova Scotia trip

We’ve done Nova Scotia several times on our Gold Wing. You asked for “different” things -- our specialty. Your ferry will put you in Yarmouth. Just pass thru there. If you take the northern shore – Route 101 – you’ll pass thru Digby. Really nice town and home of the famous Digby Scallops...

    2015 Side Case Strengthener Kit

That'll certainly work. I was just headed out to the garage to take some measurements but you saved me the trouble. Note that in my case I'll need about 1/8" worth of shims for each of four hinges. Think you'll try powder coating?

    2015 Side Case Strengthener Kit

I just drew the left side 'cause the right side was exactly the same -- offset towards the front. I think it's just the way the tabs are oriented -- not pointing "straight". Let me get under there again later this morning and take some more measurements. Gotta' head to the gym, then I'll get...
