• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Warranty Question - Would you let a regular M/cycle shop fit a rear tire?

Like Ron mentioned, I had my front tires/wheels spun balanced where I purchased my car tires. Big "O". The rear tires on our spyders will always wear the center of the tread out first. No matter whether you run 50 psi or 0 psi. It's just the nature of the beast we ride. However, I run 17/18 cold...

Where to get engine oil analyzed...

Napa told me they no longer sell oil analysis kits. I just ordered one from Amsoil and received it in three days. I'll take a sample and send it back to them tomorrow. It was a quick turnaround, and the last analysis was excellent, along with future recommendations.

Warranty Question - Would you let a regular M/cycle shop fit a rear tire?

8015 miles? You did good. If I recall I barely broke 6K.

Warranty Question - Would you let a regular M/cycle shop fit a rear tire?

The guys, and gals, at the Walmart shops, are nice folks. But if you take your spyder to them for any kind of service, you deserve what you get. Over the years and with several vehicles I've experienced overfilled oil, leaking filter (due to not removing old filter gasket) wrong oil, cross...

New Vredestein Tires wearing on the inside - what pressure/what fix? Alignment issue?

Not to worry ahh-cool. Most if not all spyders come from the factory that way. Mine did and Squared Away showed me where mine was 2 1/4 inches out, one of the many things which BRP shortcuts. For what our machines are they come to us terribly encumbered and underperforming. Tires, power...

Warranty Question - Would you let a regular M/cycle shop fit a rear tire?

No. I would have a qualified spyder service department do it. Why? Because it's not a regular motorcycle. My guess is there are more spyders out there running non BRP approved tires than are. JMHO OEM tires are crap.

A different look at setting the correct tire pressure

:agree: However, if BURP did include TPMS on their machines that still wouldn't solve the PSI issues some folks have problems with. JMHO If we all agreed on the same PSI there'd be no need for this site.:roflblack:

A different look at setting the correct tire pressure

I have a small utility trailer I pull with my spyder. It weighs approx 100 lbs empty. I load the tires with 20 psi. to start with. Ambient temp is approx 80 degrees. As they heat up from use they self adjust to about 23/24 psi. and read out at approx 100/105 degrees. That's what I think about.

Are warped discs a common problem with Spyder Front Brakes?

Yep, when I worked in my dad's shop, I honed and rebuilt wheel brake cylinders - I hated that job. Do they even have brake cylinders on cars anymore? I think everything is a caliper like our Spyders? We are living now in a throwaway society. What's next, teleportation? LOL

Are warped discs a common problem with Spyder Front Brakes?

I've had my car's rotors turned but I don't believe there is enough material on spyder rotors to turn them safely. Better off to install new ones on a spyder. JMHO

Why is the engine braking so Weak?! Should I not use Eco mode?

All outside influences being equal, high RPMs and throttle activation are the main influences on MPGs. "Eco mode" simply slows down the sudden throttle response, nothing more. I'm long past my aggressive riding days so I run with Eco on 99% of the time. Why? Because I don't recover from injuries...

Where did you get your "Handle"?

I had two St. Bernards I took to work with me when I worked in the woods falling timber and skidded logs. They rode in the bed of my pickup and guarded all of our vehicles against the local irate Indians who thought we were trespassing on their land. To this day I don't know why they didn't like...
