• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2012 RTS SM5 rough idle, rough acceleration issue!

That was something else I was thinking of. I have around 7000 miles on it, you think the plugs/wires would go bad that soon? Sent from my SM-G928P using Tapatalk

2012 RTS SM5 rough idle, rough acceleration issue!

I noticed a couple weeks ago that my RT would sometimes not accelerate smoothly and would stutter a bit, I guess you could say. A bit hard to explain. Thinking it might be gas related, I filled up the tank with new gas, and have noticed no difference. I have also noticed that sometimes when I...

    2013 RTS blowing 20amp fuse

Compressor was the cause on mine as well. Replaced with an aftermarket one, and solved the problem. Hopefully it will last a bit longer as well!

Question about replacing stock air compressor with Viair 097c

Slight update to this! After a couple days of riding, I noticed the bag didn't seem to hold air. I had checked all the fittings after I installed the compressor, and everything seemed fine. I decided to pull the rear off again and double check everything. Turns out there is a little...

    Missing belt guard

I've had one on both Spyders that I own, and so far no issues. On my GS it did rub the tire a bit, but I didn't see it as an issue. BTW, I drive about a half mile on a gravel road to my house. I do keep the speed down low though.

Question about replacing stock air compressor with Viair 097c

Good question. The 097c was what everyone suggested as a replacement. A smaller one, even 1" shorter, would be ideal.

Question about replacing stock air compressor with Viair 097c

Thanks! I'm wondering if the title of this thread needs to change. Might be easier for people to find if it's called "TECH: Replacing air compressor on the RT". Not sure I can change the title thought, might be something the mods will need to look into.

Question about replacing stock air compressor with Viair 097c

Yes. The compressor is right up under the seat, and due to the saddlebags being built in on the RT, they completely block access. Also, I don't think you can remove the splash guard without removing the rear, and you have to remove that. It's funny how I used to complain about the tupperware...

Question about replacing stock air compressor with Viair 097c

Thanks! I was surprised that no one, that I could find, had covered this before.

Question about replacing stock air compressor with Viair 097c

You'll need to remove the compression fitting off of the air hose on the Spyder, and unscrew that fitting and install it in the 097c. The compression fitting is on the right of this pic. The manual says to use Locktite 597 on the threads, but I could not find that in my area. I used a product...

Question about replacing stock air compressor with Viair 097c

Replacement done! Just finished replacing the stock air compressor with the Viair 097c unit. Whew....so much tupperware! Anyways, to help out the next person that wants to do this, I took some pics. This is all the tupperware you'll need to remove. I have the shop manual, and it will...

Question about replacing stock air compressor with Viair 097c

I keep forgetting I have a shop manual! I'll take pics as I go along, and it may help someone in the future. I do wonder how these will hold out vs. the stock one, I would hope they last a bit longer.

Question about replacing stock air compressor with Viair 097c

My compressor on my 2012 RT-S is very loud, and has been causing the fuse to blow anytime I ride two up. I did some research, and purchased the Viair 097c to replace mine with. How hard is it to replace? I can't find any vids on it, like I have been able to with my other Spyder repairs, but I...

2012 RTS audio settings keep resetting?

Wow, here I am thinking it is some rare/odd problem! If I understand correctly, this will happen if I turn the key off before everything boots up?

    Instrument/Gauge Lens Issue

Very interesting, and I am very curious as to what the liquid is, and where it is coming from....especially since it seems to be etching the lens.

    Instrument/Gauge Lens Issue

Well I decided to pull my cluster out and investigate this a bit more. The cluster comes out very easily, took all of 15 minutes to take it out, clean it, and out it back in. It does appear to be some sort of oily coating on the inside of the lens. Where it is coming from, I have no clue. I...

    Instrument/Gauge Lens Issue

I think on the GS I had, I removed the lens from the panel at one time, as there was a protective clear sheet over the LCD that started bubbling. I assume the lens can be removed from the RT panel as well?

Is this what you are talking about? Just noticed it on mine this morning, and it is on both sides.

2012 RTS audio settings keep resetting?

I have a odd problem going on with my 2012 RTS. Twice in the past couple months, the speed sensitive volume control has turned to off by itself, and I have also noticed that my bass, treble, and fader settings have went back to default as well. All of my radio station presets are fine, as is...
