• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My search for the perfect oil funnel? What's yours?

I picked up a 2 pack of something similar a while back. They're pretty versatile and work well.

    Why Is Overfilling Oil “Bad”?

Once I established the correct amount of oil in mine via the overly complicated factory procedure, I figured out my own quick level check. I start the bike before a ride, let it idle while I remove the access panel, and check it with the engine idling. It works out to be just above the lower...

My search for the perfect oil funnel? What's yours?

I think I have all of those, and then some. 🤣 I just try to find one that fits what I'm working on. A suggestion on the Honda: If there's a separate dipstick, try removing it to provide a vent when filling.

    Random thought for the day

It's actually much easier to ride hands free on two wheels, as you can still steer a bit by shifting your weight, which doesn't work on a trike.

2017 Exhaust Muffler Compatibility; how to discern what fits?

Wow. I'd think with all the open spaces in Oz, exhaust noise would be pretty much a non-issue. Fortunately, we're still a free country here in America, for now. ;)

Ordered the Clutch assist kit from BRP

I got the clutch assist solenoid from my dealer. It came in a week, and I even got a small discount for being a long-time customer. The hoses, zip ties, and check valve I already had or sourced locally. Installation was pretty easy, with the hardest part being threading the hoses from one side...

Engine smoking and burning lots of oil - anyone pulled an engine?

Will there be enough room in a 6' x 10' Trailer to tie down an RT?

You'll never regret buying a larger trailer than you think you'll need. I recently sold my 8.5' x 24" and bought an all-aluminum Intech ICON 8.5' x 28', which will allow me to haul the Spyder along with my race car or another car if we're just vacationing. I'd definitely go with a 7x14 minimum...

Are you using Tie down straps to secure a Spyder with e-track in an enclosed trailer?

I plan to add lifting eyes to my front lower shock mounts to make tying it down a lot easier.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I'd like to see the 3rd brake light you installed. I've been looking for one that would look good on my F3S. I ordered an adapter for my automotive wheel balancer to allow me to balance motorcycle tires. It will need slight modification to make it fit, but fortunately I have a lathe and mill...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

That asymmetrical tire would trigger my OCD in a bad way.   🤣

Because I like to do things the hard way. 🤣

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Thanks, that's a nice idea. I found some smaller and more compact ones, as well as SAE extension cables for when I need a little more reach. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BHYY82NF?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0824S27JB?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

I just ordered BUDS w/ Megatech license.

I love it. The custom tune really woke up the motor, and I'm sure added several hp. I also modified the pedal vs. throttle opening map to increase responsiveness in the throttle ranges above 40%, and reduce how far I need to twist my wrist to get to full throttle. It helps a lot with my hand...

I'm even more of a Spyder fan than I was before

Sorry to hear yours didn't go so well. A podiatrist recommended against replacement about a decade ago, as he said the ankles weren't lasting as long as knees and hips. The specialist I saw in 2022 told me that they'd made big advancements in design as well as surgical technology, and the ankle...

I'm even more of a Spyder fan than I was before

I shattered an ankle in a skydiving accident in 1992. It was reconstructed, and I got along well until around 2020. I had it replaced in 2022, and it's been a big improvement. How has yours been over the long term? Thanks, David

Any time limit on changing HCM filter during oil change? Is a 10 y/o filter good for a few more years?

I wouldn't worry about the age of that filter, as long as you're doing the recommended oil changes. Change it at the recommended mileage.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Nice work. I made new shift and brake rods to move my footboards to position 4. I made them from aluminum hex rod, left and right hand threads, and 5/16 heim joints with jam nuts. This makes fine adjustments to pedal position easy, and eliminated the slack from the original clevis pins.

My thoughts on the new "4 Wheeled Ryker"

Interestingly, we visited Las Vegas and Lake Havasu City, AZ last month. While in Havasu, we rented a Razor XP for a day out in the desert. They're legal and licensed for road use out there, everywhere but the interstates. It was very handy going from one trail to another, and easily kept up...
