• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Maiden voyage

Yes, it's been painful. I really hoped I could get in a few minutes of saddle time back when I bought it, but the weather had other ideas. I purchased it from a dealership in Rutland, Vermont (4+ hours away), and I had it delivered. The next day, wham! We got a big snowstorm. <Sigh> The roads...

Hello to you in Schenectady! I'm in the Greene County Catskills -- about 10 minutes from Hunter Mountain.

    Maiden voyage

Your point is a good one, Michaelscs. Now that I think about it, I did not let it warm up much at all before I took it out. Maybe 30 seconds, which isn't much for the year's first ride. (I was kinda eager.) Will try again tomorrow, and be more careful about this. Thank you for the advice!

    Maiden voyage

OK, that's a misleading title. It wasn't much of a voyage. ;) It's warm enough today, with the roads actually dry (not to say clean), so I took my new-to-me 2016 F3-S out for a half-mile run up and down my street. First ride! She was delivered to my house in mid-December, just one day before we...

HowTo: DIY hand guards for my 2018 F3s

Probably would deflect a cicada, though! We're due for a big hatch this year in upstate New York. Man, those things hurt when you smack into 'em while you're riding!

    February Weather News 2021

We're dealing with 25 inches of fresh snow -- on top of 8 or 9 we had already -- that fell in the last 48 hours in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York. Not being a skier, I am not enjoying it very much.

Can't Revise My SpyderLovers Profile Signature, Link Broken

I feel better that I'm not the only one having a bit of trouble with this. In my case, I was trying to create a signature from scratch. I see the forum software doesn't retroactively apply a signature to your earlier posts. Interesting.

Considering Going From 2 to 3 Wheels

FWIW, the CTX700 with DCT is an underrated gem of a bike. It's versatile as heck, feels much lighter than its 500 pounds, and is simply a LOT of fun to ride. Because it never became popular, you can often find one at a good price. Honda stopped selling them in the US in 2018. Had mine since...

    Luggage rack advice, please?

Thank you, troop. Your setup looks *great.* If I were starting from scratch with this bike, I'd do all Shad storage. But the Cross Country bags use a different mount, I believe, than the Shad bags. And then there's the slightly different size and shape of the Corbin seat to consider.

    Luggage rack advice, please?

I've researched this question quite a bit on the forum and elsewhere online, but not found an answer. So I thought I'd finally ask straight up. My new-to-me F3-S came equipped with: (A) A Corbin seat; (B) Can-Am Cross Country saddlebags; and (C) The quick-release Can-Am passenger backrest...

    December Weather News

Rainfall in the last 24 hours: 5.5 inches. And it is still coming down. Not a speck of snow left on the ground; it all melted and washed away, adding to the general mayhem. Flooding, washed out roads, damaged bridges, people evacuated from their homes in low-lying areas. I am OK (it's good...

    December Weather News

Last week, we received 20 inches of powdery snow here in the Northern Catskills. The skiers/boarders have been positively giddy! (I live in a ski town.) Tonight, we are predicted to receive as much as 5" of rain. This is not a good combination. Flood warnings are popping up like dandelions in...

    Looking for a tank bag

Here's a closeout bargain from the good folks at Motorcyclegear.com. Hit the drop-down for 'Select Item', and you'll see a suction-cup mount is a choice. https://www.motorcyclegear.com/parts/luggage/tank_bags/rapid_transit/recon_sport_tank_bag.html A mere $26.

    Ride like you're invisible.

One of the closest calls I've ever had was in a roundabout. I was in the proper lane, wearing my screaming high-viz gear ... and could tell the person merging in from the right didn't realize I was RIGHT THERE. She finally did stop. So did I, about 5 feet from her SUV's hood. We just stared at...
