• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    The Utopia backrest

Rain predicted for the next 3 days. I just finished the install. I have yet to put the seat back on but I got the surgery done and everything bolted tight. Mine is the removable kind. Eraser your pictures were a huge help. The hardest part was starting the 2 bolts under the seat where the 2...

2011 RT Owners - anyone looking to swap with a 2010 windshield?

Well, I am six feet nine inches tall and riding a 2011 RT wishing the windshield was taller. Mine has about 1200 miles and the windshield is in perfect shape. I am open to trades as I sure would like the bigger 2010 windshield better. Anyone nearby want to do a direct swap and quick trial to...

Heated Clothing and the Spyder Electrics

I use a Gerbings jacket and gloves. No problems at all. I added a voltmeter to keep an eye on things. The jacket and gloves cycle on and off and the voltage goes from 13.6 to 14 as they do it. That seems fine to me. At idle it will show 12.5v when heating. The Gerbings web page gives wattages...

    The Utopia backrest

Phil- Thank for the pictures. The last one is especially helpful. I noticed in the instructions it says to "peel the backing off the boot and stick it in place" then cut. I got the set up that allows for quick removal of the backrest and the "boot" doesn't have any backing, or sticky parts. it...

    The Utopia backrest

I just got the Utopia Backrest for my RT today and have looked at the instructions, also searched for videos or better pictures. I have old eyes and can't really make out a few of the details. I won't be doing the install for another week as I am gong out of town, but I sure would like to see...

    little things

All cars have adjustable seats, most have tilt and telescope steering wheels, a few have pedals that move fore and aft too, all to make a wide range of drivers comfortable. Motorcycles should be the same way. The old tubular handlebars could easily be rotated in the clamps to provide a little...

    Need advice from onwers

When I traded in my RS SE5 for my 2011 RT-S (E) the dealer owner told me I was getting every dime back on the automatic. It may cost more up front but it all comes back when you trade. ymmv of course, but I did very well on my trade in. I wouldn't have anything but the SE. I just works so well...

    I BROKE DOWN

Fishtailing -no. I do find that they "hunt" a bit- that is to say they have 2 front wheels riding on two different places on the road and the Can Am steers like it is following one, then the other just like a car that doesn't hold steady in its lane on the highway. Some cars run dead true, some...

    Lemon Law

Invoking the Lemon Law is a fairly formal process. I can't speak to the Texas or new Mexico lemon laws but I have experience as a service manager in MA and the workings of the lemon laws here, although it was fairly long ago. As a service manager I would be frustrated ( because I couldn't fix...

Getting vibes- feels like riding on rumble strips

I put 300 miles on yesterday including a fair amount at speeds where the vibrations occurred. it is 90% better and it wasn't bad to start with, just a minor annoyance, something that made the RT-S less than perfect.

Getting vibes- feels like riding on rumble strips

I took my RT in for it's 600 mile service yesterday and we discussed the vibration. They road tested and checked things- found the belt tension just high of the spec and adjusted it into range. I haven't had the vibration since, but a longer road trip is in order to confirm the fix. So far so...

RT- Where to tap in for accessory power, removing instrument cluster

I have many of the panels off the RT and I have wired power and ground to my relay, now I need to tap into a 12v key on source and not interfere with can bus stuff I don't understand. The relay will go on on to power my auxilliary fuse panel. From there I will add my GPS and later heated gear...

    Giving up.

I hope it all works out for you in the end. Now that I am on my second Spyder- went from and RS to an RT - I am sort of an experienced guy but on a new model that behaves different. I too carry weight up high- 6' 9" and about 305. I've gotten very used to it hunting as it goes along but I do...

2011 RT LTD stalling, DPS, Limp Home, Miss Fire, ECT,Ect,Ect.........WTF!!!!!!

Sadly true- I was a Volvo service manager back in the 80s and they had a problem with one of the new models that affected them when the weather turned cold. We had a parade of them coming in and Volvo had no fix available for two weeks- in a lemon law state. As each customer came to us and said...
